Junior high and high school aged newcomer youth visited iconic Calgary locations like the Central Public Library, the Calgary Municipal Building, the Calgary Tower, Stephen Avenue, Devonian Gardens, Eau Claire, Prince’s Island Park, and the Peace Bridge!

Throughout the two-day camp, newcomer youth prepared for school in Canada by learning about Canadian culture and Alberta’s education system, making new friends, and creating lasting memories!

We loved exploring downtown Calgary with our WIN/NOW summer camp participants and empowering them in their new home. When children thrive, communities thrive!

We would like to thank Kristi Sebalj, who served on the CBFY Board of Directors for 6 years. Through her work, Kristi has had an immensely positive impact on the lives of newcomer youth and their families.

Kristi, from all of us at CBFY, thank you so much for your dedication, passion, and time you have poured into this organization. You have truly made a difference in the lives of so many newcomer youth and families as they transition into their new lives in Canada. Thank you

Our office will be closed on Monday, August 3 in recognition of Heritage Day and will reopen on Tuesday, August 4.

Fun fact: Heritage Day is a celebration of the many cultures and traditions that make Alberta such a diverse place. It's a time to recognize the people and communities who help shape our province.
If you're looking for ways to celebrate, visit the Calgary Heritage Day Festival at Eau Claire Plaza or head to Heritage Park for their Heritage Day celebration!
