Workers' Resource Centre

Workers' Resource Centre Free assistance for Alberta workers with Employment Standards, EI, AISH, CPP-Disability and more. Our services are free of charge to Alberta workers.

The Workers’ Resource Centre helps Albertans understand their rights, access benefits, and file complaints and appeals with employment-related agencies, such as Employment Standards, Employment Insurance (EI), the Alberta Human Rights Commission, Canada Pension Plan - Disability (CPP-D), and Alberta Income for the Severely Handicapped (AISH). We support workers experiencing job loss, improper pay, discrimination, injury, illness and disability, and provide referrals for additional support.

Did you know May 1 is International Workers' Day? Celebrated around the world, it's a day to honour the labour movement and the ongoing fight for workers' rights β€” a fight that's very much alive here in Alberta. At the Workers' Resource Centre, we believe knowledge is power. Workers who understand their rights are better positioned to speak up, push back, and stand up for themselves. That's why we do what we do. πŸ’ͺ

Employment Insurance is a lifeline for workers faced with job loss, sickness or injury, critically ill family members and growing families. Our Team Lead, Megan, was in Ottawa earlier this month for the 2026 Employment Insurance Forum convened by Pierre LalibertΓ©, Commissioner for Workers at the Canada Employment Insurance Commission.

Alongside advocacy organizations from across the country, Megan had the chance to represent the voices of Alberta workers β€” sharing the realities we see every day at the Workers' Resource Centre β€” and advocated for an EI system that works better for the people who need it most.
