Alberta Motorcycle Safety Society - AMSS

Alberta Motorcycle Safety Society - AMSS AMSS was formed by a group of concerned motorcyclists interested in improving the safety on our roads.

Our mission is to reduce motorcycle related serious injury and fatality statistics in the Province of Alberta through education and awareness. We are a non-profit society registered in the Province of Alberta, established in February 2016. Through partnering with the motorcycle industry, municipal/provincial governments and the media, the AMSS hopes to become instrumental in the promotion of motor

cycle safety, education and awareness in Alberta. The ideal annual campaign would focus on three main criteria:

Drivers - educate drivers when motorcycles return to the roads, watch for riders, learn where extra attention is needed, the inherit dangers of distracted driving, etc. Riders - educate riders on their responsibilities to their environment and community by riding responsibly, obeying traffic rules on the road, being respectful, etc. Mechanics & Gear - promoting street legal motorcycles that adhere to the Alberta Traffic Safety Act, promoting proper riding gear as a safety measure to all riders including proper and approved helmets, jackets, boots, pants and gloves.

For many Albertans, summer means more motorcycles on our roads. Whether you're behind the handlebars or behind the wheel, a little extra attention can make a big difference.

🏍️ Riders: Make yourself visible. Wear bright gear, use your headlights, and always ride within your skill level. Just because your motorcycle can accelerate quickly doesn't mean every situation calls for it.

🚗 Drivers: Before changing lanes, making turns or pulling into traffic, take a second look. Motorcycles can be harder to spot and may appear farther away than they really are.

A close call can happen in an instant. The extra few seconds it takes to shoulder-check, signal, slow down, or create space could prevent a collision and save a life.

Let's work together to make this riding season a safe one!
