🍂🦫 What a beautiful day for a Beaver adventure! 🦫🍂

Our colony enjoyed a fantastic fall camp day at the Mill of Kintail, filled with sunshine, learning and outdoor fun!

🌲 We kicked things off with a hike through the trails, where the Beavers learned about the Mill of Kintail and how to tell the age of a tree. We even stopped to hug a few trees because we believe in nature! 🌳🫶

🍁 Back at camp, we got crafty and made beautiful fall-themed sun catchers before gathering around the fire to roast hot dogs and marshmallows. Apples and other snacks helped keep our busy Beavers fuelled up for the day! 🌭🔥

🗺️ Next, the Beavers teamed up for a map-reading challenge and scavenger hunt, following clues to decode a special word. Then, with nets and bug catchers in hand, the Beavers explored their surroundings to see what little critters they could discover! 🐛🔎

🎉 We wrapped up the day with some fun games before saying goodnight to our Beaver crew.

What a wonderful day of hiking, learning, creating and exploring! Our colony certainly knows how to branch out and make wonderful memories together. 🌲❤️

💧 The Magic Cub Pack Bus Goes Down the Drain! 🚌🔬

Tonight, our Cubs dove into the wonderful world of water! 💦 We were thrilled to welcome Andrew Hoogenboom from the Town of Arnprior, who took us on a journey from the water’s source all the way to the taps in our homes. Our Cubs learned about the process that gets clean, safe drinking water to our community — and discovered there’s a whole lot more to it than turning on the faucet!

A huge thank you to Andrew for taking the time to visit us, share his knowledge, and help our Cubs better understand the important work that keeps our community hydrated. We really appreciate it! 👏

Of course, we couldn’t just talk about water — we had to get our hands dirty (or, in this case, a little wet)! 🧪 Our Cubs conducted their own water filtration experiment to see how water can be filtered and cleaned. Move over, Ms. Frizzle — we’ve got a busload of budding scientists ready for their own trip to the Waterworks! 🚌💧

After our special guest headed off, the Cubs burned off some energy before putting their brains back to work planning the menu for our upcoming winter camp. Because every great outdoor adventure needs a good meal plan! 🍽️🏕️

Meanwhile, our Howlers began thinking about their Seeonee Award — the culminating award of their Cub Scout journey. 🐺 This is their chance to reflect on everything they’ve learned, the challenges they’ve tackled, and the skills they’ve developed throughout their time in Cubs, while planning a final personal adventure that brings their Cub experience together. They’re excited to begin mapping out their award paths and take on this next challenge!

From learning how our water gets to us, to planning camp meals and preparing for new adventures, our Cubs are always finding ways to learn, grow, and Do Their Best! 💚💛💙❤️

Thanks to the generosity of community partners like you, we can continue giving our youth opportunities to get outside, take on new challenges, build outdoor skills, develop leadership, and discover just how much they’re capable of accomplishing. 🏕️🌲

Scouting is about so much more than camping and campfires. It’s about building confidence, learning through adventure, working together, and growing into the leaders of tomorrow.

We are incredibly grateful for the continued generosity of our local community. It takes a community to help our youth thrive, and we’re so thankful to have yours behind us!

🍎 Apple Day is back in Arnprior! 🍎

This Friday from 4:00–7:00 p.m. and Saturday from 8:30–12 p.m., 2nd Arnprior Beavers, Cubs and Scouts will be around town sharing delicious, fresh-picked apples. We will be set up at No Frills, Metro, Giant Tiger and Canadian Tire!

Apple Day is one of our biggest fundraisers of the year — your donation helps us take our youth on more great adventures, and and directly contributes to building tomorrow’s youth leaders.

Keep an eye out for us, say hello, and please consider making a donation to support local Scouting (and get a tasty apple as our thanks!). It starts with Scouts.

🦫 Beaver Meeting Recap! 🌧️

We had a fun-filled night of music, creativity and a little Beaver-made weather!
🎶 We explored how music can make us feel and think, discovering that the same music can inspire different feelings and ideas. The Beavers shared their thoughts and drew what the music inspired in them.

✨ Our White Tails also put their heads together to begin their Northern Lights Project — an opportunity to choose something meaningful to them, learn about an issue in their community and work together to make a difference. Along the way, they’ll build confidence, teamwork, communication, creativity and problem-solving skills. We’re excited to see their ideas grow!

🌧️ Then we made rain! Using large tubes, aluminum foil, coffee beans and lentils, the Beavers created and decorated their own rain sticks. From gentle showers to a full-on downpour… and then, of course, THE BEAVERS MADE THUNDER! ⛈️😂

Our Beavers will be out in the community this Friday and Saturday with apples as part of our Apple Day fundraiser. Apples will be available in exchange for donations, with funds raised helping support our Scouting activities, supplies and adventures throughout the year.

Good night, Beavers — and stay dry! 🌧️🦫

🐺 Tonight, the Pack learned that teamwork is a little more complicated than simply shouting “I’ve got it!” 😂

Tonight was all about teamwork, trust, communication, and our new lairs!

The Cubs were split into their lairs — the teams they’ll learn with, grow with, succeed with, and adventure with throughout the year. Raksha assigned each lair its colours, while Akela explained just how important these little teams are to the bigger Pack. A lair is more than just a group of Cubs; it’s a small family within our Pack family — a place to encourage each other, help each other out, celebrate successes, and maybe occasionally remind each other which way we’re supposed to be going. 🐺

Then came the team-building challenges!

With Raksha and Chil, the Cubs had to work together to fold a tarp down as small as possible while standing on it. Because apparently there is no better way to learn cooperation than slowly removing the available floor space beneath 5 Cubs! 😂

Next, Akela challenged the Cubs to arrange themselves in different orders — without saying a word. There were some very serious facial expressions, a few creative interpretations of the rules, and an impressive amount of silent communication.

Finally, Baloo presented the Cubs with another challenge: escape from underneath his circle without using their arms, hands, or shoulders. It turns out that when you take away the obvious solutions, teamwork, creativity, and a little bit of determination become pretty important!

We also spent some time practicing our knife safety skills, because knowing how to safely use one of a Scout’s most essential tools is an important part of becoming capable and responsible outdoorspeople. 🔪🌲

And to finish the evening on a high note, the Cubs who were able to join us at camp received their Camping Outdoor Adventure Skills badges — Levels 1 and 2! 🏕️👏

Lots of learning, lots of laughing, and maybe a little bit of discovering that getting 20 Cubs to agree on something is itself an advanced team-building exercise. 😆

The Pack is getting stronger, one lair at a time! 🐺💙

🐺 The Pack Goes Camping! 🏕️

The Cub Pack packed up their gear, put on their hiking boots, and headed out for a weekend adventure at Camp Opemikon with our friends from the West Carleton Pack!

And what an adventure it was!

The Cubs paddled almost 6 km by canoe - which sounds pretty impressive until you remember they first had to march 2.6 km just to get to the canoe launch! Apparently, the canoe trip was the easy part. 😜

There is some debate, however, about exactly how much paddling the Cubs actually did. The Scouters may have done a little more of the heavy lifting, while the Cubs explained that they were far too busy taking in the sights, enjoying the scenery, and conducting important wildlife observations. 🛶😂 We can't argue with that logic - somebody had to supervise the scenery!

We explored Snake Island (and despite extensive investigation, we still aren't entirely sure where the snakes were 🐍), spent time discovering the incredible nature around us, and enjoyed a beautiful campsite with some absolutely fantastic weather.

Baloo helped the Cubs learn how to identify trees 🌳, while West Carleton's Bagheera led some creative activities, including sewing our very own miniature canoes and making beautiful leaf imprints. Because naturally, after paddling real canoes, the next logical step was to make tiny ones.

There was hiking, exploring, crafting, canoeing, tent sleeping, and plenty of time for the Cubs to simply enjoy being outside together.

And then there was the food. 🍳🥞🥪

A very special thank you to West Carleton Akela, who kept everyone well fed throughout the weekend with an absolutely delicious menu. The Cubs showed remarkable dedication to the important Scout skill of leaving no food behind. 😋

Some Cubs even managed to stay awake past midnight** - despite the best efforts of Akela and Baloo to convince them that, yes, sleep really is a good idea when you have another full day of adventure ahead of you!

Most importantly, the weekend was about spending time together, building friendships, learning new skills, discovering the outdoors, and giving our Cubs the opportunity to experience a little bit of independence and adventure.

A huge thank you to our Scouters from both Packs for making the weekend possible, and to our families and volunteers who help make these experiences happen. ❤️

The Cubs came home tired, happy, a little dirtier than when they left, and with plenty of stories to tell.

🛶 A Huge Thank You to Ottawa Valley Canoe & Kayak!🛶

We’d like to send a huge thank you to Ottawa Valley Canoe & Kayak for their incredibly generous donation of a canoe to our Scout Group!

This thoughtful donation will give us another opportunity to get more Scouts out on the water, learning new skills, building confidence, working together, and enjoying the adventures that Scouting is all about.

Having access to equipment like this makes it possible for more of our Scouts to experience activities and develop skills that they might not otherwise have the opportunity to try. It will be put to good use as our Scouts learn, grow, explore, and adventure together.

We are incredibly grateful to Ottawa Valley Canoe & Kayak for supporting our youth and helping us create more opportunities for our Scouts to get outside, challenge themselves, and become better citizens of the world.
