• Someone who appears controlled or unable to speak for themselves
• Youth with unexplained gifts, hotel stays, or older “boyfriends/girlfriends”
• People being moved frequently between hotels or cities
• Individuals who seem fearful, anxious, or coached on what to say
• Excessive monitoring of phones, IDs, money, or movement
• Recruitment through social media promising jobs, travel, or luxury lifestyles
Safety precautions:
✔ Check in with youth about online interactions
✔ Keep emergency contacts accessible
✔ Trust your instincts if something feels wrong
✔ Learn local reporting and support resources
✔ Share information without spreading panic or stigma
Awareness can interrupt exploitation before it escalates. Human trafficking is not inevitable. Prevention works when systems work together.
