Every year, thousands of pounds of fruit grows in local backyards all around Durham Region.
Sadly, many fruit tree owners are unable to keep up with the abundance, and a lot of perfectly edible food goes to waste.
That's where our community fruit harvesting program (formerly known as Fruitful Connections) comes in!
We harvest the fruit and share it three ways; one third for the tree owner, one third among the volunteers who help with the harvest, and one third to a local food bank, shelter, community fridge, or other social service agency.
