Happy Queensland Day!!
As we met today to celebrate Madaraka Day and belated Mother’s Day, we celebrated what living in the most beautiful state means.

Thank you Study Cairns, Suha and team for attending and sponsoring our event, we appreciate you.🙏🏾🇰🇪

Thank you KIC Committee for helping to organise this awesome event, decor, program, MC, DJ, photographer, reminders and many things you did in the background🙏🏾👌🏽🇰🇪. We danced, we laughed and ate lots of yummy Kenyan 🇰🇪 Cuisine cooked with love by our Kenyan Queens. Thank you again for such an array of selections, we appreciate you. Our KIC children ran outside playing on the playground and catching up too🇰🇪. Thank you Sheila and Clare for sharing your teabags for the Mother’s Day gifts it added a beautiful touch. Thank you David for bringing so many goodies from the tablelands, we have all taken home avocados, eaten blueberries to our hearts content btw the yummiest i have had ever👌🏽🙏🏾. You did not have to do it but you brought to share which is Kenyan spirit to the best, we appreciated.

It was a great honour to be invited by Study Cairns for their Inaugural Indonesia Delegation Showcase Luncheon. It was an eye opener to learn more of what Study Cairns puts together for such a mission and the reasons behind it.

In KIC we have international students that can really benefit from services and links from Study Cairns. They have a hub created for the students to tap into many resources from many stakeholders that want them to succeed in their studies comfortably while giving back to the local community and workforce.

Kenyans in Cairns look forward to more collaboration to help our students by strengthening these connections. Thank you Suha, Rishi, Alex and the 2026/2027 students ambassadors, congratulations for what you are doing for the international students 🙏🏾.

Wishing KIC families a happy 63rd Madaraka Day.
Madaraka Day is an annual Kenyan holiday celebrated on June 1 to commemorate the day the nation attained internal self-rule in 1963. The word Madaraka means authority or self-governance in Swahili. This occasion represented the initial step toward full independence, which Kenya later achieved on December 12, 1963.
