Kuranda Conservation

Kuranda Conservation Kuranda based nursery, aiming to assist and educate the public in matters such as; native ecology, sustainability, land management and animal conservation.

We are completely volunteer run and owned. Kuranda Conservation is an entirely volunteer organization whose objectives are to assist the community to use land in an ecologically sustainable way and to enhance natural biodiversity through education and demonstration. We promote awareness of the environment required for the preservation of cassowaries including habitat protection and enhancement, an

d domestic and feral animal control. We participate in research to better understand the needs of this unique, umbrella species. If the cassowary survives then the other fauna and flora of our region will also. We believe we’ll make good decisions about what we grow on our properties, what pets we keep, how we behave on the roads and bush tracks and how we design our towns and houses by measuring the impact our actions have on cassowary habitat in this part of the world.

🌱Hey everyone!🌱

Saturday's Plant Sale was a successful event where we sold native plants, Jules' hand designed shirts and Bin Stickers! We would like to thank our volunteers on the day, as their help was crucial and very much appreciated.

We would also like to thank everyone who came to the sale! Your support for the nursery is greatly appreciated and we couldn't have achieved any of this without the continual support of this community!

We hope everyone has a wonderful festive season!

🌱Hey everyone!🌱

We are thrilled to announce that Kuranda Conservation Community Nursery inc has secured funding from Regional Art Fund administered by Art Alliance in Brisbane. The $20,000 fund will go towards the artists painting the BIG cassowary statue that will transform Kuranda Village’s landscape. The statue intends to create a unique connection to the community, rainforest and our commitment to conservation, and will serve as a landmark public artwork for residents and visitors alike.

You can find out more about this project on the Cassowary Art Trail website at: https://www.cassowarytrail.com.au/

We're so excited to share this next step with you all!
