📚☕ Another wonderful morning at our Whittlesea VIEW Club Book Chat Group!

Today we discussed Mad Mabel by Sally Hepworth, a book that sparked plenty of conversation and a mix of opinions, although most of the group thoroughly enjoyed it. A big thank you to Zoe, who led the discussion so beautifully with some thoughtful and deep-thinking questions that really got everyone talking.

The morning also turned into a lovely sharing session about favourite books, movies, television shows and documentaries. We were all fascinated listening to Julie speak about her experience attending a talk by Michelle Obama, such an inspiring story to hear firsthand.

Most importantly, it was another fantastic get together filled with friendship, laughter and great company. We’re already looking forward to next month when everyone will bring along and share a book of their own choice! 📖 🤩

A Wonderful Day Out at Preston Market 👏🏻💯
We, your Program Officers, just want to let everyone know how happy it makes us when we see a group of ladies enjoying an outing we've organised.
It certainly brought a smile to our faces and to many others as well to see 18 women, all laughing and smiling, rugged up in warm coats, beanies, scarves and gloves, catching the 🚂 to the Preston Market. A couple of ladies really looked the part, having remembered to bring their shopping "jeeps"!
Although it was a little chilly, the rain stayed away, and we spent about an hour wandering around the market, taking in all there was to see and buy. I think everyone came home with something from fresh fish, nuts and pasta to all sorts of delicious goodies from the deli section.
The flowers were particularly popular, with a terrific selection at very reasonable prices.
After our shopping adventure, we gathered at the nearby Cramers Hotel for a bite to eat and a well-earned chat before boarding the 🚂 back to Whittlesea.
I just want to comment on the courtesy shown to us by all the students that were already on the train when we were boarding at Preston. They stood up ‘as one ‘ to make sure we were all seated. Well done to all the students…🤩
A great day was had by all, filled with friendship, laughter and good company - exactly what VIEW is all about! Sue & Glynis🥰🎉🤩

🎉Whittlesea VIEW Club's Knit, Crochet & Natter Group
Our new Knit, Crochet & Natter Group has now held its second get together, and it's already proving to be a wonderful success! 🤩
A huge thank you to Jean Powell, whose idea and enthusiasm got this fabulous group off the ground.
The room has been buzzing with creativity. Trisha has been knitting baby clothes, Sue has been making comfort dolls, Kim has been working on a children's jumper, while others have been busy crocheting and stitching. Sandra is creating a lovely ladies' cardigan, Merryn and Suellen are making colourful granny squares for future tops, and Gail has completed a beautiful piece of embroidery. Jean herself has been working on a cosy knee blanket.
What makes the group so special isn't just the beautiful projects taking shape, it's the laughter, friendship and conversation. Members enjoy chatting about absolutely everything and sometimes absolutely nothing at all!
There's also a wonderful spirit of generosity. Trisha and Sue have kindly donated some of their finished projects to Kim for the charity work she supports.
The talent in the room is impressive, but even more impressive is the willingness of everyone to help each other when someone gets stuck.
Needles are clicking, hooks are flying, friendships are growing, and a coffee is never far away! ☕️🥰

At our meeting yesterday we were privileged to hear from our guest speaker, Sr Mary O’Shannassy, who shared her experiences from more than 30 years working as a prison chaplain around Australia, particularly in Victoria

Sr Mary spoke with great compassion and honesty about the realities of prison life, reminding us that every person in prison is someone’s son, daughter, mother or father. She shared moving stories about supporting prisoners and their families, particularly children affected by incarceration, and highlighted the importance of dignity, respect and human connection in helping people rebuild their lives.

Members were deeply interested to learn about the prison system in Victoria, the challenges of drug addiction and mental illness, and the need for greater rehabilitation and support services rather than simply more prisons.

It was a thought-provoking and insightful presentation, and we sincerely thank Sr Mary for sharing her time, wisdom and experiences with us. 💐🥰

What a wonderful success our Whittlesea VIEW Club Mother’s Day Raffle was this year! 🌸

We would like to sincerely thank all of our members for their generous contributions and ongoing support. A very special thank you also goes to our amazing volunteers who gave up their time over two weekends to help sell raffle tickets — it was greatly appreciated.

We would also like to thank our wonderful Whittlesea businesses for their generous donations, which helped make this raffle such a success. A list is in the photo attached.

Congratulations to our lucky winners of the beautiful Mother’s Day hampers:
🥇 First Prize — Isabelle from Whittlesea
🥈 Second Prize — Maxwell from Flowerdale
🥉 Third Prize — Lucy from Whittlesea

Without everyone’s support and contribution, this event would not have been possible. Thank you to everyone who bought tickets and helped make the raffle such a successful fundraiser.

See you again this time next year! 🥳💐

Heidelberg Theatre 🎭
What a fabulous evening our dinner and theatre nights are! 👏🏻 Dinner at Sir Henry Barkly Hotel is a great starting point. Perfect for our quick meal with good food and service.
The play, The Girl On The Train was excellent. Starting with our complimentary sherries and the beautiful theatre, it never disappoints. A gripping thriller, great acting and sets.
With a few new ladies joining us our numbers are growing. Seventeen members and three guests attended a great night. We all enjoyed a fabulous night and great company! Thanks to Glynis & Sue for organising such a fun filled day…🤩💐💞

Lunch at Red Lion Hotel - Kilmore! 🥳
Eighteen members enjoyed lunch at the refurbished Red Lion Hotel in Kilmore. The hotel looks very stylish and the food was delicious. Our luncheons are a great opportunity to make connections between members. Always lots of chatter and laughter. The beautiful weather provided a pleasant drive to Kilmore. We all had a nice and relaxing time together! 😍🩷🤩
