Food sustainability means a lot to us.

One of our values is ensuring everyone has access to free, healthy, and nourishing food. No matter where you live or what your income is.

Our partnership with Food Fairness is an important step toward making this vision a reality. Together, we’re strengthening connections between services, supporting greater inter‑agency collaboration, and helping local businesses build meaningful relationships with their local neighbourhood.

We’re proud to be working together to create stronger, healthier, and more connected communities. 🧡

💛 “I just love doing what I do, and I love my community.” – Barbara Gibb

Our incredible OpShop Manager, Barbara, recently sat down with Region Illawarra to share what drives her passion for volunteering and why building connections means so much to her.✨

The Born Again Bouitque, it’s about more than just a shop. It’s about people, community, and creating a place where everyone can lift each other up.

On Friday, we were honoured to host a morning tea celebrating our OpShop Manager, Barbara Gibb, who was recognised as 2026 Local Senior of the Year and presented with the award by Anna Watson MP.
In partnership with BaptistCare Warilla North, we shared a truly encouraging morning together. We are absolutely overjoyed to see Barbare recognised for her dedication, kindness, and the incredible impact she has within our community.

Congratulations, Barb - this recognition is so well deserved 💐

So beyond proud 🎉

Our opshop began in 1997 with a simple desire to create a space where people are seen and heard, and where no one goes without. We’re not quite sure where all those years have gone but one thing is certain- the core values have never changed.

For the past 25 years, the woman making that happen- showing up early, staying there late and all the extra stuff inbetween is Barbara. Many of you know her, and many of you have personally experienced the deep love she has for this community. The words spoken in Parliament last week truly reflect who she is and the impact she has made.

We recognise her faithfulness, generosity and love. I encourage you to take a moment to say thank you in your own words the next time you see her - she has more than earned it 💛

Carol Berry MP

I recently visited Born Again Boutique in Warilla, and had the pleasure to meet Barb Gibb, and hear about the amazing work that Barb and her wonderful team do – all on a voluntary basis.

I gave a speech about Barb in Federal Parliament – here is what I said:

I rise today to recognise Barbara Gibb, a highly valued member of the Warilla and Shellharbour communities.

For the past 25 years, Barb as she is known, has worked as a volunteer with Assist Shellharbour, managing the Born Again Boutique and op shop in Warilla.

Born Again Boutique opened in 1998, providing a place where people in the community can have access to clean, pre-loved and affordable clothing and goods.

Many items can be purchased for just a few dollars and Born Again Boutique is popular and has a great reputation.

Barb looks after every aspect of the boutique's day-to-day functioning, including sorting donations, organising tip runs, maintaining cleanliness, supervising volunteers and liaising with partnering organisations – and she volunteers 40 hours a week.

Importantly, Barb doesn't just manage the store; she's cultivated a space of connection, care and community, and she's achieved this through her integrity and compassion.

She remembers people's names, their stories and what they're going through in life. She takes time to check in on customers and community members, offering a kind word, a cup of tea, a message of support or a reminder that they're not alone.

I had the great pleasure of visiting Born Again Boutique a few weeks ago and meeting Barb and her wonderful team of volunteers.

I thank Barb for her 25 years of service to her community and for doing this with such warmth, compassion and generosity of spirit.

We had such an uplifting morning with Carol Berry MP today. Our Opshop is truly blessed with incredible volunteers, and it’s wonderful to see their kindness and dedication recognised. We’re grateful for our neighbours, who are always welcome — it’s a joy to call them friends.

Thank you for visiting, Carol. We look forward to continuing to work together for our community.

It was great to catch up with Naomi and Barb at Born Again Boutique!

Barb (on the left) has been volunteering at Born Again Boutique for 25 years, and volunteers over 40 hours a week to give back to the local community!!! She’s also got many volunteers who help her ❤️

If you haven’t already heard of Born Again Boutique, let me introduce you to one of Warilla’s true community gems.

Located at the Baptist Care Community Centre, 2/6 Hill Street, Warilla North, this pre‑loved clothing boutique has been serving the community since 1998. Open Monday to Friday, 9am – 3pm, it offers affordable clothing for those who need it most and just as importantly, a welcoming place to connect.

Hats off to these local legends!
