Can you recognise what bird these feathers belong to? 🪶

Today is world parrot day! A day celebrating these intelligent, colourful birds while raising awareness of the challenges they face in the wild. 💚

Worldwide one-third of parrot species are facing extinction due to habitat destruction, hunting, and illegal wildlife trafficking.

Together, we can help protect the future of parrots by protecting habitats and supporting ethical wildlife practices and conservation organisations 🌳

Answer: 1. Hyacinth macaw 💙 2. Red-tailed black cockatoo🖤❤️3. Sun conure🧡💛

While leopards certainly are not the largest big cat, their power and strength are unmatched 🐆

Capable of leaping over 6 metres horizontally and jumping up to 3 metres vertically, leopards combine stealth, agility and strength, making them one of the most successful hunters in the big cat world.

Pound for pound, leopards are considered the strongest big cat and are known for their incredible ability to carry prey heavier than themselves high into trees 🌳

Presenting phoenixes food in unique ways allows him to exhibit his natural abilities 🐆

If you've been following Zambi's incredible journey rescuing the abandoned wild Przewalski's horses at Fernhill Estate, you'll love hearing our very own horse whisperer, Zelie Bullen, in conversation with Fran Kelly on ABC Radio National last week.
It's a fascinating insight into the rescue mission, the horses, and the extraordinary bond Zelie has built with them 🐴

Australia lays claim to an important but little known connection to the Mongolian legend Genghis Khan' and his vast empire and its running wild in Western Sydney. Once thought to be extinct, the Przewalski horse, native to Mongolia and dating back to the time of Genghis Khan and the Ice Age, has bee...

🐝 World Bee Day 🐝

Globally, there are over 20,000 species of bees, with around 2,000 native bee species found right here in Australia!

Bees play a vital role in food production, with almost two-thirds of Australia’s agricultural production benefiting from bee pollination. Honey bees remain the most widespread managed pollinator, supporting many of the crops we rely on every day 🌾

Unfortunately, bee populations are under threat due to habitat loss, intensive farming practices, pests, and diseases, causing declines in both bee numbers and diversity.

Ways you can bee friendly:
🐝 Avoid using toxic pesticides in your garden, especially during spring and summer. Opt for safer alternatives or spray in the evenings when pollinators are less active.
🐝 Plant flowering species such as lavender, sunflowers, and bottlebrush.
🐝 Create a bee bath using a shallow dish with pebbles for bees to safely perch and drink from.
🐝 Set up an insect hotel using wood and hollow sticks to provide bees with a warm, dry shelter.

Every small action helps protect these important pollinators 💛🌻

We’re celebrating 22 years of two incredible lionesses, Maisie and Kiara 💛

After retiring from the Lennon Bros circus in 2019 the circus family chose Zambi for the girls to live out their golden years, where they now spend most of their days napping side by side in the sunshine ☀️

Reaching this extraordinary age is a huge milestone, making them two of the oldest lioness’ in Australia. In the wild lions typically live to around 12 years old, in captivity with proper care they can reach up to 25 years of age which is equivalent to a 95 year old human!

It is a true testament to the care, dedication, and love they have received throughout their lives. Seeing them thrive in their senior years is something very special, and we’re so proud to provide them with a peaceful forever home 🧡

Join us in wishing these beautiful girls a very Happy 22nd Birthday 🎉🦁
