βš«οΈπŸŸ‘πŸ”΄Today is national Sorry Day – and we recognise the grief, loss and trauma experienced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and communities with the forced removal of their children as part of the Stolen Generations.
We acknowledge the deep and continuing nature of this trauma, and the strength of survivors.
The Torres Strait Islander flag has replaced Council flags outside our Civic Building in recognition of the day, and will remain for National Reconciliation Week which starts tomorrow.
