Applications are invited from groups or individuals within the Upper Lachlan Local Government Area for amounts up to $1,000 to support capacity-building activities that improve the health of the Upper Lachlan landscape, Funded by the Roslyn Landcare Fund! 💚

Applications close Tuesday 26th September 2026. 📅

Eligibility Criteria ✨
• Individual must reside within the Upper Lachlan Local Government Area (LGA) 🏡
• Awarded funds cannot be used to pay labour or salaries 💵
• Funds will not be awarded for expenditure already incurred ⏰
• Funds can be used to assist a person, or persons, involved in studying, or undertaking training and skill development to increase their capacity to improve the health of the Upper Lachlan landscape. 🌿📚

Landcare in the Murray is a community — volunteers, Coordinators, farmers, young people, partners and Traditional Owners working together to care for an incredibly diverse landscape.

Across the region, the Murray Landcare Collective brings people together to farm sustainably, strengthen drought resilience, restore biodiversity, and support local communities.

🌊 Platypus Project: eDNA sampling along the Swampy Plains River revealing platypus throughout the system, educating kids, families, and landholders

🌿 Wirraminna Environmental Education Centre: a volunteer‑managed public park showcasing practical Landcare projects and sustainable farming practices

🌱 Squirrel Glider Habitat Corridors: reconnecting fragmented habitat through fenced corridors and 20‑year‑old plantings

🐟 Deni Lagoon Wetland Restoration: reinstating natural wetland systems, supporting threatened fish species, and demonstrating community–science–government collaboration

🌳 Redlands Hill Flora & Fauna Reserve: 30+ years of volunteer stewardship protecting high‑conservation grey box grassy woodland

🖤💛❤️ Aboriginal Partnerships: Aunty Jeanette Crew OAM, Chair of Yarkuwa Indigenous Knowledge Centre, leading work to involve Indigenous communities in Landcare, share Traditional Land Management knowledge, and contribute to the award‑winning Deni Lagoon restoration project

Across the Murray, Landcare empowers people to learn and connect — creating stronger communities and healthier landscapes for future generations.

🍃 New Scholarships Open for Landcare and First Nations Leaders

The Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) is offering new scholarships for the landcare movement, including scholarship programs specifically designed for First Nations Peoples.

As a director of a regional not-for-profit, your organisation’s mission is what drives your purpose. To support new and emerging directors to make a greater impact in their organisations, the AICD is offering Regional Not-for-Profit Scholarships.

The First Nations Foundations of Directorship Scholarship offers First Nations leaders and directors the opportunity to strengthen their understanding of organisational governance as they help shape the future from the boardroom.

The First Nations Community Governance Pathways Scholarship is open to aspiring and new First Nations directors. Recipients will attend AICD’s Governance Foundations for Not-for-Profit Directors course in one of five locations across Queensland and Victoria. The program also includes a half-day leadership workshop and virtual coaching sessions. 🎓

This (5–13 September), we’re embracing this year’s theme, Keeping Stories, by sharing some of the many stories that have shaped the Parramatta River.

For thousands of generations, Dharug people have lived with, cared for, and maintained deep cultural connections to the river and its surrounding lands and waterways. Colonisation brought profound change, with the river later becoming a place of farming, transport, industry, swimming, and recreation.

The Parramatta River Catchment Group is committed to truth telling and recognising the river’s full and layered history, including the enduring connection of First Nations people to Country and the impacts of colonisation.

Landcare in the Mid Coast of NSW are a community — volunteers, Coordinators, farmers, young people, and partners helping each other.

From the coastline to Barrington Tops, Landcare brings people together to restore landscapes, support recovery, and strengthen connections.

Justine Thompson, Mid Coast 2 Tops Regional Landcare Coordinator, says, “Landcare is more than the on‑ground work — it’s about that community.”

Across the region, Landcare supports:

🌱 Volunteer‑led action: a ground‑up movement driven by passionate locals who know their place and their community

🛟 Disaster preparedness & recovery: after drought, bushfires, and major floods, Landcare has helped landholders, delivered People Led Prevention and eco‑burn education, and supported communities through recovery

🌿 Sustainable farming & land management: peer‑to‑peer learning and local farming groups building resilient agricultural systems that care for the environment

🌳 Coastcare restoration: Decades of volunteer work regenerating coastal rainforest remnants, expanding habitat, and protecting one of the last 3% of this vegetation type left in NSW

👯 Junior Landcare: Stroud Junior Landcare is growing the next generation of river guardians through cultural learning, river‑care projects, and platypus habitat restoration

🏙️ Urban Landcare: Currawong Park Landcare volunteers and local groups restoring parks, riverbanks, and shared green spaces

🖤💛❤️ Aboriginal Partnerships: Gomeroi Yinarr Landcare Group leading Cultural land management initiatives and re-connecting Aboriginal women to Country

🫶 Junior Landcare and Intrepid Landcare: environmental education with schools such as Tintinhull Public School and hands‑on leadership programs for young adults

🐨 Koala and threatened species projects: Gwydir Ark Sustainability Group, the Living Classroom in Bingara, Warialda Koala Reserve, and North West Regional Koala ARKS restoring habitat and supporting community‑led conservation
