Imagine if your receipt told the full story.

Single-use plastic is actually extortionate. There's a hidden line item for cleanups, for damage to wildlife and the environment, for the carbon released into the atmosphere and for the particles that make their way into us.

You don't see it on the receipt, but it still gets paid.

Most of the time, refusing single-use plastic costs nothing. Think about that.

The world has done the seemingly impossible before. We phased out chemicals eating the ozone layer. We got the lead out of petrol. Action on plastic can be next.

Those problems didn't solve themselves. People demanded changes to the rules and governments delivered them. People power works.

Australia is currently one of the top producers of plastic waste per capita. We can change this. Over 80 countries have introduced mandatory targets to reduce plastic packaging & encourage a circular economy.

Right now, we have a remarkable opportunity to change the rules and become a country that others follow.

We’re a nation synonymous with the sea, yet Australia is in the top 2 highest consumers of plastic per capita.

As Tim points out: Australia has every reason to lead the world in solving this problem, rather than being one of the biggest causes.

For Mandy Nolan, one of those people is Bob Brown (Bob Brown Foundation). The legendary environmental activist whose courage and persistence has inspired generations to stand up for the planet.

The journey we’re shaping must lead to turning off the plastic tap. Stopping it at the source, before it ever reaches the ocean, before it’s in the products we use and before it makes its way to a newborn baby about to take their first breath.
