Conversation on the street.
You're that gardening guy, aren't you?
Yes.
Do you know what plant this is? It never flowers.
Have you ever watered it?
No.
Give it a good soak and get back to me.
Three weeks later it flowers.
It's Dianella congesta. It grows mainly in coastal areas in QLD and NSW. It's an effective sand-binder and ground cover.
You get more flowers from this sun-loving plant if it isn't planted under dense evergreen shade and allow it to get buried under fallen leaves.
While effectively bulletproof in a coastal garden, an occasional water won't hurt.

What’s under the sea? Lots of potential biocontaminants

Because of docking in the Strait of Hormuz for a prolonged amount of time, large amounts of marine life from there like barnacle colonies have likely clung to the hulls of these ships

Once these ships return to Australia, how will that affect our marine ecosystems?

“Wait what? Wait, really? Wait, how?”

Globally, “colony collapse disorder” has caused the relatively sudden disappearance of bees under mysterious circumstances: not many dead bodies, it looking sudden and coordinated, etc.

So why? Researchers at the Georgia Institute of Technology may have found out in bumblebees. Watch to find out
