SCA is a small team of volunteers dedicated to helping cats in need throughout Toowoomba, Darling Downs, Lockyer Valley & Southern Qld.

SCA Qld is a small team of volunteers dedicated to helping community cats in need within the Toowoomba Region and throughout Southern Queensland. We rescue cats who have found themselves homeless for whatever reason – cats in regional pounds where they are at high risk of euthanasia due to overpopulation, cats surrendered by their owners because of difficult circumstances, abandoned and homeless strays, and those in danger of abuse or neglect. We provide shelter, medical aid, vetting, and everyday care to these cats until their forever homes are found. TO DONATE:
As a not-for-profit charity organisation, SCA Qld does not receive government funding and all life-saving funds come from the generous donors who believe in our vision - to live in a community where no kitten is born wild on the street, and where no cat capable of living in a home is lacking one. Meet Snow White and her seven little dwarfs! 🐱✨

This sweet young mum and her tiny crew arrived at a regional vet clinic during a severe thunderstorm recently, when the kittens were only three weeks old. They’re safe, warm, and thriving now in SCA care!

Quick mythbuster: just because our feed isn’t bursting with daily posts doesn’t mean we’re resting on our laurels. Behind the scenes, our small team are working our absolute butts off, and with over 60 cats and kittens currently in our care, we are well and truly bursting at the seams.

We might be quiet on socials, but the rescue grind never stops! 💙

Yesterday I had the pleasure of heading to Brissy to visit the wonderful Animal Rescue Cooperative Queensland team, and they sure made the trip worthwhile!

My old trusty ute ‘Stormy’ is still at the mechanic, but Little Red here can fit wayyy more than you’d think! Lynnda loaded her up with a massive 260kg of dry adult cat food, along with some parasite treatments, medical supplies, hand sanitiser, gloves, PawLab enzyme concentrate, and even a few sneaky doggy treats for our little Snuffy 🐾

Generous donations like these help us to feed the 60+ cats and kittens currently in SCA’s care. This in turn helps free up our rescue funds for use towards other rescue essentials such as vet fees.

JACK UPDATE 🎃🧡

We are thrilled to share that after 5 days and 4 nights in the hospital—and a few scary spikes in his temperature and heart rate along the way—Jack was officially discharged from the emergency vet on Wednesday night!

He is now safely back home in his foster carer's gentle care. While he still has a bit of recovering to do and remains on strong antibiotics and pain relief, he is purring up a storm and so happy to be back in comfortable, familiar surroundings.

If only he could tell us what mischief he got himself into!

We couldn't have gotten Jack through this scary ordeal without your quick kindness and generosity. Thanks to everyone for stepping up when he needed it most.

✨ Laidley Spring Festival Wrap-Up! ✨

That’s a wrap on our 4th year at the Laidley Spring Festival, and WOW—it just keeps getting bigger and better every single year! 🌸

We want to extend a huge thank you to the Lockyer Valley Regional Council and the Valley Markets and Events team for inviting us back to run Saturday’s BBQ fundraiser. Thanks to the incredible turnout (we hear there were 20,000 attendees!), we nearly doubled last year’s food and drink totals—raising $2,000 at the grill and another $700 at our merch table to support our rescue!

Events like this don’t just happen; they take an enormous amount of hard work behind the scenes. Thank you to the organisers for putting together such a stellar event, keeping everything running smoothly, and always looking out for our team.

We are so grateful for the ongoing support and can't wait for 2027 applications to open! 🐾❤️

🚨 URGENT 🚨 Emergency Fundraiser for gorgeous Jack O’Lantern 💔🐾

We just can’t seem to catch a break... 💔 Just as we were celebrating getting sweet Cassie home, long-term foster boy Jack O’Lantern found himself in a terrifying situation. Jack escaped on Friday night and returned home with a severe, gaping abdominal wound.

He was rushed straight to UQ VETS Gatton Emergency for assessment where he underwent surgery to clean, debride, and repair a deep 7cm wound and insert a drainage tube. The vet team think he has found himself in a precarious situation and was injured while freeing himself.

While initial estimates were lower, Jack’s temperature and heart rate spiked overnight, and he requires extended ER care, scans to monitor for fluid build up, pain relief, and IV antibiotics. His hospital stay through to Monday morning is currently at $1,946—with costs likely to rise if he needs further tests or hospitalisation.

Thanks to your incredible generosity for Cassie last week, we had a buffer that we hoped would cover Jack’s care. However, with his extra stay and ongoing treatment, his bill has already exceeded our reserves.

If you can spare a few dollars to help us cover Jack’s ER stay, he and our team would be forever grateful.
