Sunshine Coast Animal Refuge The Sunshine Coast Animal Refuge was established in 1979 with the primary aim of providing temporary

BRINGING PETS AND PEOPLE TOGETHER ......FOREVER

All cats and dogs SAVED by the Sunshine Coast Animal refuge (SCARS) are Vet checked, vaccinated, wormed, desexed, micro chipped and medically treated if necessary prior to being available for adoption to the public. We have comprehensive terms and conditions of sale to ensure the animals are adopted into an appropriately loving home. The Refuge is managed by an unpaid, elected committee, and run by a small staffing compliment and a large dedicated group of volunteers. The Refuge operates from a 1.08 hectare site at Sippy Creek Road, Tanawha (adjacent to the Council Pound) and can house approximately 50 dogs and 60 cats at any given time. We accept cats and dogs from the Sunshine Coast Council Pound after owners cannot be traced, and from private surrenders. We rely on the support of the Sunshine Coast Council Partnership Funding programme, bequests, local businesses, clubs and the community in general, for which we are very thankful and could not survive without. If you would like to find out more about making a donation or bequest, please click here - http://www.sippycreek.com.au/ways_you_can_help

We always need reliable and dedicated volunteers 18 years plus, to assist with early morning work and afternoon work, feeding cats and dogs, cleaning pens, preparing food, lawn mowing, maintenance and washing. Sunday’s Super Senior is Tucker!🐶💗

💙 MEET TUCKER – THE LOYAL HEELER WITH A BIG PERSONALITY! 💙

At 9.5 years young, Tucker is a clever, loyal Aussie Blue Cattle Dog who knows an impressive collection of tricks and still loves a good game of tug!

Tucker is looking for a very special home with someone who understands and appreciates everything that makes a Heeler unique.
🐾 His perfect home:
Adults only – no children under 16.
Experienced, confident owners.
A cat-free home.
Friendly dog companions considered.
A calm home where he can enjoy his own space when visitors arrive.
Secure fencing and proper livestock separation if on acreage.

He's a smart, devoted boy who keeps his special circle close. If you love the loyalty and character of a true Cattle Dog, Tucker could be your guy! 💙

So many ticks around at the moment! Please be vigilant - use the tick prevention and also check your animals regularly.

Paralysis ticks particularly are deadly to cats and dogs, and it will cost a lot to try to save them if they get a tick on them.

Preventatives help kill and deter the ticks - please use them 🙏

We are hearing too many stories about people losing their animals recently💔

Thanks again Animal Emergency Service Tanawha

🐍 Not every snake bite leaves an obvious mark... but your dog’s behaviour can tell you something is wrong.

Keep an eye out for these warning signs:

🐾 Sudden collapse, even if they seem to bounce back quickly
🐾 Weakness, wobbliness, or trouble walking
🐾 Tremors, shaking, or dilated pupils
🐾 Dark or bloody urine
🐾 Bleeding from the nose, mouth, or bite site

⚠️ Trust your instincts. If you think your dog may have been bitten by a snake, don't wait to "see how they go." Every minute counts.

Happy forever news for Baby, now Baylee🎉💗💗

Baby was sadly surrendered after her dear owner passed away. We popped her out into a foster home whilst we waited for her forever home.

Baylee has found a most wonderful forever home! Thankyou to everyone who applied to adopt her.

Thankyou to her foster carer too for caring for Baylee.

Happy CATurday from 6 year old girl, Cleopatra 👸🏼

Hello, it’s me, Cleo! 🐱

Shelter life isn’t too bad but I’m hoping to be Head of Household in a forever home soon! 🙏🏻

Here’s the scoop on me: I’m curious, smart, and independent; but I do like a pat and a chat 🐾

I really appreciate humans who get me: someone who respects a girl with a strong personality and loves a cat who brings true character to a home. In return, I’ll offer endless charm, entertainment, and a lifetime of regal affection 💞

Think your lap is worthy of a queen? Pop out to the shelter - I would love to meet you! 💖✨

🐱 Happy Caturday from our longest term cat, Taski.

Every animal deserves a loving home - especially seniors. They deserve to spend the rest of their days comfortable, cherished, and deeply loved… and 12-year-old Taski is so ready to be your special boy. 🤎

Taski has been waiting at the shelter for over 8 months now, and while he’s been a total champion, he’s more than ready to swap his shelter pen for a warm lap to call his own.

Here is what makes Taski so special:

🐾 The Ultimate Welcoming Committee: Taski is a total sweetheart who will always greet you with a friendly "hello" whenever you walk into the room.
🐾 Lap Cat Extraordinaire: If you’re sitting down, expect Taski to snuggle right up. He loves nothing more than soaking up your warmth.
🐾 A Solo Superstar: Taski prefers to be the undisputed king of his castle, so he’s looking for a household with no other cats.

🏠 His Ideal Home: Taski is a cat with personality and clear communication! Because he can occasionally get a little overstimulated, he’s looking for an understanding, patient adopter who respects his boundaries and listens when he says, “that’s enough pets for now, thank you." In return, you’ll get a loyal, chatty, and affectionate companion who will fill your home with endless love.

Could you be the one to give Taski the peaceful, comfortable golden years he truly deserves? 💞

Come out to meet Taski this weekend! Let’s get this handsome gentleman home.

We currently have a number of senior dogs in our care.

Cheddar, Boston and Flex are three of them.
