Each and every week, across towns, suburbs and communities right around the country, you give something extraordinary - your time - so that young people can grow, develop and thrive. You do this not because you have to, but because you choose to. And in doing so, you change lives.

Do you want to be part of a new Scout theatre production?

Then you are invited to join a group of Scouts, Venturers, Rovers, and adults supporting a family fun show performed by Joey and Cub Scouts from all around Tasmania. No experience is needed.

What are we doing?
We are inviting older Scouts, Venturers, Rovers, and adult members to be part of a team making Junior Showtime come to life.
There will be four rehearsals and two performances, and each show will be 90 minutes long (including a break). The show will have 4 songs and 4 acts.

When is this?
A series of 4 rehearsals and two performances.
• Rehearsal 1: Saturday 23rd May, 1:00pm to 4:00pm.
• Rehearsal 2: Saturday 13th June, 1:00pm to 4:00pm.
• Rehearsal 3: Saturday 27th June, 1:00pm to 4:00pm.
• Rehearsal 4: Saturday 11th July, 1:00pm to 4:00pm.
• Performance 1: Saturday 18th July, 1:00pm to 2:30pm.
• Performance 2: Saturday 18th July, 4:00pm to 5:30pm.

Why are we doing this?
Because this is going to be so much fun! Hobart Gang Show have had many Joeys and Cubs interested in being part of a show, but nothing quite suitable for this age group. We also have many Scouts, Venturers and Rovers that cannot commit to a full season of Hobart Gang Show. This is also a chance to experience being part of the theatre for some people that may not otherwise get the opportunity. All youth members are welcome to use this as a Special Interest Area project (more on this later).

Our Commitments;
We have written and will manage the performance of a show specifically suited for young people with their fun, empowerment and development as the focus. We will attempt to give everyone a role they can enjoy and be proud of.
A team of leaders, Rovers, Venturers and Scouts will manage rehearsals in a safe, respectful and inclusive manner. We know that young people have different needs and abilities and we are prepared to assist and guide all youth members as they need along the way.

Your Commitments;
We ask that any person supporting the show, in any capacity does so in a way suitable to their needs and interests, and does not overwhelm themselves with too much workload. The rehearsal and performance of a show is difficult for all involved. We ask everyone to keep in contact and let us know of anything we can do to help.
Young performers may need help to practice their performance and remember songs, acts or dances. Please support them as best you can but also understand that the finished performance will be fun and more interesting even if mistakes are made or songs are off tune.
There is no fee for those people volunteering in a supporting role, but they must be financially registered and policy compliant through Scouts Tasmania. For Rovers and other adults, this means holding a current WWVP, adult registration and being up to date with online modules.

Important Paperwork;
Expression of interest; Please complete and return the Expression of Interest form attached to the email. This contains all the relevant information we need to progress this event.
Consent forms; Please complete the Scouts Tasmania TOP16b Consent Form if you are under 18 years old. Only complete the Individual Event Parental Authorisation and signature sections on the consent form, then print and return at the first instance or electronically.
Health forms; Please complete the Scouts Tasmania TOP16a health form. This includes all adults that are involved. There are two pages to complete then print and return at the first instance or electronically. We do not yet have the ability to share Scouts Tasmania’s Consent2Go profiles between different Scout groups.

Communications;
The main system for communications will be via email. More specific communications may be via phone call, SMS, or other systems from time to time. Communications will mostly come from Alex Crean, leader in charge of this activity. Some communications may come from the other senior event team; Jasmine, Emily and Evan.
Personal details will not be communicated to anyone outside the leaders in charge and all emails/SMS will be bcc (blind copy) or single recipient SMS.

What Roles are there?
Roles we may need help with;

• Acting Direction
• Singing Direction
• Dancing Direction
• Accounting and Money Handling
• Timetables and Schedules
• Theatre Bump-In/Bump-Out

A note will be sent to all 1st Derwent families via Consent2Go.

Our youth members yesterday paused to remember the sacrifice and be thankful for the service of all personnel who have served our country in active service, peace keeping and defence roles, both at home and abroad.

Our group joined the 2026 Hobart ANZAC March and Main Service as we have done since 1931, once again, providing the Flag Party at the Saluting Dias at Town Hall, Programs for the Main Service and Flag Bearers at the Cenotaph.

Youth members did themselves proud turning out with immense formality, showing great respect and marking the solemn occasion.

They are a credit to themselves.

Lest We Forget.

Progress: Venturer Leader Sophia doing the high (scaffold) act to apply some neatness to our back wall. A few Moree touches and we’ll have a great looking hall (from the outside as well!). Thank you also to Aaron for running ammunition (paint) resupplies so that the blue looks blue and Craig for lending us the gymnastic equipment (scaffold).

See you at the Anzac vigil tonight (at the Cenotaph) and at tomorrow morning’s Anzac Day march.
