💧Static Water Supply (SWS)💧

The Static Water Supply (SWS) Program is a free service that enables residents to help local firefighters by identifying existing water supplies (such as dams, tanks or swimming pools) on their property that could be used for firefighting purposes.

The NSW Rural Fire Service provides specially designed SWS signs for properties with suitable water supplies. This helps firefighters access vital water supplies quickly and efficiently to help them defend your property. Examples of suitable water supplies include:

- A property dam which can be used to refill fire tankers and firefighting aircraft such as helicopters which support our firefighters on the ground.

- A backyard swimming pool, which provides an ideal static water supply for small portable pumps and hose lines to help protect your home.

- A tank, which with appropriate fittings can also be used to quickly supply water for firefighting.

Today, Sancrox/Thrumster Rural Fire Brigade was paged to an unknown fire along Telegraph Point Road at 3:57PM.

Once investigated it was found there was a fire within rubbish piles at Cairncross Waste Management Facility.

Crews quickly got to work to extinguish the rubbish piles with the assistance of heavy machinery.

🚒 Mid-Coast Strike Team Delta 🚒

Over the weekend, crews from the Mid-Coast District formed a Strike team with multiple composite crews.

They departed on Friday 02/10/26 and headed up to the Clarence Valley District. Working on the Seven Mile Gate Fire situated West of Grafton. Over the last 2 days they’ve been working hard to extinguish hot spots and strengthening containment lines. Returning home today 05/10/26 for a well earned rest.

Big thank you to all the crews for giving your time over the long weekend to support local efforts.

Sancrox/Thrumster Rural Fire Brigade was kept busy on Sunday (20/09/26), assisting crews at Rolland’s Plains with a grass fire and then assisting crews out at Byabarra with a bushfire.

This is a timely reminder to ensure you know your BushFire survival plan and that it is up to date.

🔥Fire Permits Are Suspended Tomorrow🔥

The Fire Danger Rating for tomorrow the 21/09/26 is HIGH, for the Port Macquarie- Hastings LGA.

All Fire Permits are suspended for 24 hours.

This means no fires are to be lit under a fire permit during this period.

On days of elevated fire danger, fires can spread quickly and become difficult to control. Two weeks ago, hot temperatures and strong winds created challenging conditions when a fire broke out in Calga, not far from the Pacific Highway.

Local resident Darren Cauchi’s home was threatened, but fortunately he had prepared his property and had a plan.

Bush Fire Danger Period has now commenced🔥

A reminder that the Port Macquarie-Hastings LGA has now commenced the Bush Fire Danger Period.

This means that from today onwards you require a fire permit for all burning activities, You must notify your neighbours and the RFS.
