Annette and Stuart Baker started the annual Winter Solstice event in Albury after the loss of their daughter Mary to su***de in 2011.

This year, the event is moving online and will be held on Sunday the 21st of June from 6pm via the Survivors of Su***de & Friends / Winter Solstice page. We will also share a link here on the night. Follow their page for speaker and performer announcements.

This week, our Inner North and Ringwood Peer Support Groups are meeting on Wednesday evening. Wayne and Shane host the Inner North group, whilst Julie hosts the Ringwood group. On Friday morning, our Frankston coffee morning is meeting at 10am. Each of these groups are open groups, which means that anyone who is bereaved by su***de is able to attend.

This week is National Volunteers Week. The Support After Su***de program is supported by over 60 lived experience volunteers that contribute in many important and meaningful ways, including facilitating our regular groups, providing individual peer support, sharing their stories with our participants, and creating workshops for our community. On Friday, past participants of our Grief & The Body workshop gathered at Richmond Uniting Church for a morning of gentle movement and reflection in the lead up to Mothers Day. Facilitated by Kristina and Narelle, the session was a chance to reconnect with learnings from the four-week workshop and feel a sense of warmth, calm and connection.
