Proof that 1st St Andrews takes everything we do very seriously... especially trivia, fashion, and winning!

A massive shoutout to our leadership team for taking out 1st Place at the Hume Region Trivia Night! Not only did they bring home the gold medals, but they definitely won the award for best dressed. Their plies and pirouettes may need a little work, but their trivia knowledge was top notch.

It looks like winning runs in the Group right now! Our leaders are following straight in the footsteps of our incredible State Rally patrol, who set a high bar by finishing first in Region just a couple of weeks ago.

We always knew our leaders were smart, but who knew they looked this good in a tutu?

Creating and delivering a top quality youth program that is fun, inclusive and teaches life-long skills doesn’t happen by accident. At 1st St Andrews we are fortunate to have a team of enthusiastic and dedicated Leaders, Committee members and parent volunteers that make the magic happen. Today, two of our amazing volunteers were presented with their Special Service Awards at the Hume Region ARA ceremony.

Congratulations Raksha and Wombat on your well-earned and much-deserved awards.

How many Scouts does it take to build a pioneering structure?

One of our patrols led the night as our Scouts built what was originally a shelter, but was more fun as a climbing frame. A great display of teamwork, leadership, enthusiasm and patience as some Scouts learned new skills, while others shared their knowledge and experience.

National Science Week starts this weekend but our Joeys couldn’t wait to get started! Last night our Joeys learned about circuits and that you can use potatoes to turn on a light 💡 , that chemical reactions 🧪 can be super cool as we built our own volcano 🌋 and that science experiments can sometimes go wrong as we tried writing in invisible 🫥 ink ✍️

So much fun was had by our mini scientists 👩‍🔬 👨‍🔬

Congratulations to our 1st St Andrews patrol for winning First In Region for Hume at this weekends’ State Rally! This was the biggest NSW State Rally ever, with patrols from all over NSW completing bases all weekend. State Rally is a competition camp, where patrols are given points based on their skills, enthusiasm, teamwork and leadership skills. B-R-A-V-O-O-O to Ariana, Daniel, Jackson, Jess, Ramoy and Ted! And a massive thanks to Waru and Spider for supporting our Scouts at this event. Eyes are on First In State next year 😉

A few of us braved the weather and the early start this morning to join our local community at Campbelltown parkrun.

Parkrun is a weekly community event where you can walk or run a timed 5kms and the best part is that it's FREE! It's a great way to get out and enjoy some fresh (sometimes very fresh!) air, and meet some new - or old - friends.

1 August is World Scout Day - it was great to have 1st St Andrews join us this morning to celebrate!

Today is World Scout Day! We'll be out and about wearing our scarves with pride to show that we are not just proud Scouts, but proud 1st St Andrews Scouts.

Scouts Australia has also recognised two of our very own in their annual Adult Recognition Awards. A huge congratulations to Elvira Cherry (Raksha) and Grant Hanson (Wombat) for being honoured with the Special Services Award.

Raksha is one of our Adult Helpers and a member of our Parent Committee - but she is so, so much more than that! Raksha has been one of the driving forces behind the scenes at 1st St Andrews for many years. Always looking for ways to help out and keep things running smoothly for both our youth and adult members at our weekly meetings, fundraisers and other activities. Raksha is also one of our excellent 'camp mum's' attending many of our camps to assist in the running of a smooth base so our youth members can shine. We appreciate all that you do Raksha and this award is well deserved.

Wombat is a relatively recent addition to the 1st St Andrews family, but he has wasted no time in making a big difference! Wombat has embraced his role as Joey Leader with both hands and has helped create an amazingly accepting, fun, friendly Joey Mob. Wombat has also completed his Wood Badge in record time by creating some fantastic sensory kits for all sections within our Scout Group ensuring that 1st St Andrews is inclusive and welcoming for Scouts of all ages. Congratulations Wombat and we can't wait to see what you do next.

I'm sure you will join me in congratulating both Raksha and Wombat on their awards 🎉👏

We love a good winter campfire at 1st St Andrews! 🔥. We had our traditional all section family campfire at the end of last term. It’s a great opportunity for our Scouts of all ages to come together and show their families what Scouting is all about and some of the skills they have learned. And of course, the sausage sizzle and s’mores are a lovely added bonus!
