A Huge Congratulations to Wombat on Achieving His Wood Badge!
We would like to acknowledge the extraordinary achievement of our very own Grant “Wombat” Hanson as he was recently presented with his Wood Badge – one of the most significant milestones a Scout Leader can achieve. The Wood Badge represents advanced leadership training, personal growth, dedication to Scouting, and a commitment to supporting young people. Not every Leader reaches this milestone, making it a truly special accomplishment.
Wombat completed his Wood Badge journey in record time and, as part of the process, developed sensory packs for use both in our hall and on camps and activities. This thoughtful project demonstrates his commitment to ensuring Scouting is inclusive, accessible and welcoming for all young people, particularly our neuro-diverse members.
At 1st St Andrews, we believe that the quality of our youth program is directly linked to the quality of our Leaders. The training, development and ongoing learning our volunteer Leaders undertake ensures we can provide safe, engaging, inclusive and adventurous experiences for every young person in our Scout Group. Achievements like Wombat's Wood Badge are a reminder of the dedication our Leaders have to continually improving themselves so they can deliver the very best Scouting program possible. This commitment to leadership development is exactly what helps our young people grow in confidence, resilience and skills for life.
