Young Diplomats Society We empower the next generation of young leaders for the global stage. Led by young people, we produce publications, podcasts and events.

We provide young people with opportunities to engage with international affairs. As an organisation led by young people, we are proud to produce:

- Publications: We publish articles written by young people to bring meaningful and original ideas to the discussion of Australia's foreign policy and international relations.

- Events: We host regular events on global affairs with academics, experts and professionals in the field.

- Podcast: Our podcast, Global Questions, is a weekly podcast for young people who want to know more about global affairs. We interview experts (such as Julian Burnside), dive deep into the news and interview young professionals for career advice.

Amid a year of uncertainty and global challenges, where did you see progress, resilience or cooperation? What moment, movement or development gave you reason to look ahead with optimism?

For the YDS Year in Review 2026: Beacons of Hope, we are inviting young voices to reflect on the developments in international affairs that gave us reason for hope this year.

We are looking for original 1,000–2,000 word articles exploring a development from 2026 that reflects the Beacons of Hope theme.

Whether you are a university student, young professional, researcher, writer or emerging voice in global affairs, we want to hear your perspective.
