As Zoe’s mum and carer, Christine knows the value of having the right people around her family. For her, that’s Keira, someone she knows and trusts to support Zoe. Keira came into Zoe’s life through a work connection, and the two have been a great match ever since.

It’s National Carers Week, and we’re going back to where it all began. 🧡

In 2011, our founder Jane Morrell travelled across Australia, driving hundreds of kilometres to sit with families and carers in their homes and simply listen. They told her what they wanted: support from people they already knew and trusted, people who understood their culture, their community and their family.

So Jane set out to build a different kind of solution for carers. That’s how Carer Solutions was born, with Australia’s first and only Direct Employ service at its heart.

Meet Nat 🧡 One of our wonderful Community Engagement Specialists, who brings a very personal connection to her work.

Growing up in a remote community, Nat saw first-hand how challenging it could be for her family to find the right support for her brother, especially when cultural understanding mattered too. It’s an experience that has stayed with her and continues to shape the work she does today.

Nat is a proud Aboriginal South Sea Islander woman, and her mobs are Nerumburra, Durambul and Guoreng Guoreng. For Nat, having choice over who supports you, including people who understand your culture and community, can make a real difference.

It’s one of the reasons she cares so deeply about helping others have that choice through Direct Employ 💫

BUILT DIFFERENT is opening the door to something new 🎙

Until now, we’ve listened to stories from our own world. Now, we’re sitting down with founders who, like Jane, saw a problem they couldn’t ignore and built something that had never existed before.

First up is Ben Young, Founder of frank green.

His latest venture started with a problem most of us never see.

Hidden behind warehouse doors and retail shelves, enormous amounts of single-use plastic pallet wrap are used every year to move goods around the world.

His answer was No Wrap, a reusable alternative created to eliminate the last bit of plastic from the frank green supply chain.

There was no blueprint. No competitor to copy. Just a problem that needed solving.
