Groups and Associates Shout Out: PISCA Bushland Conservation

Since forming in 2022, this passionate group has been caring for over 100 acres of native scrubland and coastal dunes, preserving important habitat and supporting biodiversity. Through ongoing efforts such as revegetation, w**d and feral animal control, and protecting fragile areas from unauthorised vehicle activity, they are helping safeguard this environment for the future.

Their work also supports endangered native species and contributes to a deeper understanding of the region’s flora and fauna, all while building strong partnerships within the community.

Keep up the great work! 💚

Congratulations to Peter Garrett on his appointment as Chair of the Landcare Australia Board! 🌿💚

We look forward to seeing his leadership, passion for the environment, and commitment to Landcare continue to strengthen and support the movement across Australia.

Peter Garrett AM appointed chair of the Landcare Australia Board 🌿

We’re pleased to announce Peter Garrett AM has been appointed chair of the Landcare Australia Board, with Doug Humann AM stepping down after an exceptional 9 year tenure.

Peter is well known as an environmentalist, musician and former national Environment Minister. He has been a long-time campaigner on a range of local and global issues, advocating for stronger laws to protect biodiversity, addressing the climate emergency, and supporting land conservation initiatives, Indigenous rights and reconciliation.

With a strong record of supporting community-led land stewardship through policy, funding and advocacy, in his role as chair, Peter plans to use his ‘force for good’ to support the work of the landcare movement.

Peter Garrett AM said “Australia’s Landcare has been an outstanding world first conservation program, bringing together community, farmers and First Nations people to produce healthy and productive landcapes. I relish the opportunity to take this role and help build on the great work underway right across the country.”

Doug has played a pivotal role in transforming Landcare Australia over the last decade. His legacy is his leadership of Landcare Australia’s commitment to fostering collaboration with First Nations people and organisations through the Working Group and across the Landcare Australia team. This achievement marks a significant step towards achieving environmental sustainability in Australia.
