Debating SA Debating SA is a not-for-profit association that conducts debating activities for schools and the wider community within South Australia.

The Association holds an annual interschool debating competition for Primary and Secondary Schools from May to September. Debating SA also runs a range of extensive training programs for sch

ools and can supply adjudicators and coaches for a range of community, social, educational and professional events. Debating is an education-based activity that promotes the development of communication, interpersonal and leadership skills. The Association encourages positive interaction between all its members so that each participant, from every background, feels supported and comfortable in the environment in which s/he participates.

Another fantastic evening of debating as students gathered at Immanuel College for Round 3 of the Debating SA Competition.

Across a wide range of topics, teams demonstrated thoughtful analysis, confident delivery and strong teamwork. It was wonderful to see debaters challenging ideas, responding effectively in rebuttal and continuing to develop their public speaking skills.

A fantastic evening of debating at Gleeson College for Round 3 of the SA Debating Competition!

Students from across Adelaide tackled a range of challenging topics, demonstrating impressive critical thinking, teamwork and public speaking skills. It was great to see so many debaters confidently presenting their arguments and engaging in thoughtful rebuttal throughout the night.

Round 1 of the Debating SA Schools’ Competition is officially in the books! 🔥🎤

What an incredible start to the season.

Hosted at schools across Adelaide, Round 1 saw students deliver sharp arguments, confident speeches, clever rebuttal, and outstanding teamwork. From first-time debaters to experienced speakers, the energy in every room was fantastic to see.

A huge thank you to our adjudicators, coaches, teachers, volunteers, and host schools for making the first round such a success — and of course to all the students who brought the passion, preparation, and debating spirit.
