Today marks the end of an era on the South Australian coast.

After 42 years of dedicated service, the Accolade II departed Port Adelaide for the very last time this morning.

For generations of maritime workers, seafarers and port workers -the Accolade II has been a familiar and respected presence on the water. She has played a critical role in enabling Adelaide Brighton Cement production, while providing steady (and all too rare) SA based employment for seafarers.

This morning members, supporters, friends and family gathered beneath the old signal tower to bid her a fitting farewell as she made her final voyage from Port Adelaide.

Thank you to the crew, past and present, who served aboard her over the decades. Your professionalism, skill, and commitment has established the Accolade II's proud legacy and added to an important chapter in the maritime history of South Australia.

Fair winds and following seas, Accolade II. You will not be forgotten.

Her replacement the Yampu is en route now

Today on May Day, we stand in solidarity with workers across South Australia and around the world.

From the docks to the decks here in South Australia, MUA members play a vital role in keeping our state connected — moving the cargo that supports local jobs, industry, and our communities.

May Day is a time to recognise the strength and unity of working people, and to remember that every right on the job has been fought for and won through collective action.

We honour those who came before us on these docks and decks, and we stand together to protect the conditions, safety, and dignity of maritime workers today and into the future.

An injury to one is an injury to all.
