Thank you to everyone who joined team Removing Barriers to volunteer at the Perth Running Festival last Sunday 🧡💚💙💜🩷

For a third year in a row, we had the privilege to volunteer at the Perth running festival along the half marathon race track! Our two aid stations saw a total of 7000 runners make their way through the track and taking cups of water from the hands of our amazing volunteers.

Opportunities like this help our team give back to the community and do so through unity, teamwork and compassion.

A special shout out to our treasurer Mel for her immense effort in organising the two aid stations for Removing Barriers. The work you put into to help thousands of runners is truly commendable!

And that is it for term 3!!

As the term comes to an end, we will now take a three week break over the school holidays. There will be no Monday night session on the following dates:

- 28th September
- 5th October
- 12th October

WE NEED YOU!!

We are urgently seeking volunteers to help team Removing Barriers volunteer on race day at the 2026 Perth Running Festival, Sunday the 11th of October. This invitation is open to absolutely anyone! Volunteers will be gifted with a PRF volunteer shirt as well as a few little goodies for race day. The job will consist of handing out water and ice to runners and cheering everybody on as they achieve greatness.

THUNDER LEAGUE: ALL ABILITIES DIVISION LAUNCH

Thunder League — proudly delivered by West Coast Thunder — is taking another powerful step forward

We’re incredibly excited to introduce the All Abilities Division, a key milestone in our mission to grow a competition that is truly representative of our entire community.

This initiative is a direct result of our partnership with Removing Barriers, reinforcing our commitment to not just talking about inclusion — but delivering it.

Together, we’re breaking down barriers and building something bigger than the game.
We really want Thunder League to be something for everyone. 🌩️

Look out for registrations tomorrow. It's going to be a long night waiting.

Removing Barriers win gold for a second year in a row at Western Invitational’s!

For a second year running, Removing Barriers were invited to play at Western Invitationals held by ECU. This two day tournament comprised of 6 games against WA universities, the ADF and WAPOL; where our dominant performance remained unbeaten. Further success was awarded, with Removing Barriers team member Tom Gorman winning grand final MVP as well as joint runner up tournament MVP with Will Linter.

Before the gold medal match we were fortunate enough to showcase the talent of our own athletes within our program. The exhibition match proved to be a huge success blending community, connection and inclusivity into one harmonious game of netball.

Thank you ECU Sport and Recreation ECU Mixed & Women’s Netball Club for inviting us back to compete and for all of the support you have given our organisation. We are excited to further develop our relationship and to also come back next year for the 3-peat! 😉

Thank you to everyone who walked, ran, wheeled or supported Removing Barriers at this year's HBF Run for a Reason. 2026 saw team removing barriers smash our previous fundraising and participant goals, raising $3,822 from our 47 team members. A special thank you to Mia Gumbleton for being our highest individual fundraiser, with $591!

Due to public holidays and ECU exams, there will be no Monday night sessions on the 1st, 8th, and 15th of June. Upon return, on the 22nd of June, we will have two sessions remaining for the term. Finishing on the 29th of June.

We hope you enjoy the break and cannot wait to see you back for the end of term 2!
