Do you know your way around a database? Or, even better, Infoodle?

Nakuru Hope is moving to a new donor CRM and we need a volunteer with database experience to help set it up, so the foundations are right.

You would review what is currently set up, import data from Raisely and our child sponsorship platform, reconcile against Xero, set up receipting, and write a simple handbook so anyone can use it the same way.

About 10 - 15 hours over the first four weeks depending on your experience, and then 2 to 4 hours a month as we grow. Perth based is ideal, but remote works too.

Look who is one of the finalists for the 100 Women Grant for 2026
100women.org.au/current-round-finalists/ Just to get this far, with so many amazing causes, it is wonderful. Big announcement on the 23rd October, so fingers crossed, not just for us but for those girls who will continue to be educated, ensuring they never return to the slums of Kaptembwo and have a real chance of survival.

We set aside days to celebrate mothers and fathers, but there are those who become family without ever being asked to, who show up for children who are not their own and love them just the same. Christopher, you are a father to hundreds, not by blood but by every day you have shown up, guided, mentored with love, and believed in children the world too often overlooks. There is no card in the shops for what you are to this school and to Nakuru Hope. So today, we make our own: thank you, not just for what you do, but for who you are....and to all who care.

Nakuru Hope and our choir in Kenya thank OBV, for being able to part of a most incredible experience.. Kiki Jill McCormack volunteered with us in Kenya and, together with Favour W***y set up our Choir in Kenya, where songs of hope have changed so many lives. Kiki and Donna, along with all the teachers, your incredible words and music, and your team, thank you for giving us the opportunity to share in your night.

What an incredible night at RAC Arena for One Big Voice!

Thousands of young voices filling that arena together is something else, the energy, the harmonies, the sheer joy of it all. Kiki Jill McCormack and Donna Marwick-O’Brien’s songs (that “Storming” number with the body percussion!) had the whole crowd buzzing.

The absolute highlight for me was spotting our choir up on the big screen, my heart nearly burst with pride seeing our own children from our school up there in front of thousands of WA school children , giving it everything they had. Moments like that stay with you.

Our new CEO Donna Rendell Consulting had never seen anything like it before and like the thousands in the audience was blown away!

If you ever get the chance to go to OBV, do it. Uplifting doesn’t even cover it. 💛 Thankyou OBV .. the incredible teachers, and amazing team with super star 8000 school children!! Amazing!!

Big news from Nakuru Hope!

For 18 years, our board and I have led this organisation entirely as volunteers, built on your incredible support and belief in this work.

To keep growing on that strong foundation, we've taken an important step: Nakuru Hope now has its first ever paid CEO, Donna Rendell.

Donna brings 19+ years' fundraising and strategy experience from West Australian charities including Breast Cancer Care WA, RSPCA WA and Asthma WA. She's also travelled to Kenya and fallen in love with its people, so this isn't just a job for her.

And don't worry, I'm not going anywhere! I remain Chair, still hands-on with our Hope Op Shop and still returning to my Kenyan family every year. This isn't about stepping back. It's about stepping forward together, so we can keep growing for the children and community we love.

In the Face of Everything, She Still Smiles.

This Mother’s Day, we are reminded not only of how much mothers do, but how deeply they endure.

We met a mother caring for 8 children in a one-room home with no food security, no running water, and no sanitation. She never had the opportunity of an education, and each day she walks out rain or shine to wash clothes for others — simply to help feed her children.

Sometimes we ask ourselves, can life get any harder than this?

But in the middle of it all, she still chooses love, strength, and hope for her children every single day.

This Mother’s Day, hold your mothers a little closer. Be grateful for the sacrifices, the quiet strength, and the love that so often goes unseen.

Today, we are thankful we could bring a little hope through food, support, and simply being present to remind this mumma that she is not alone and that someone cares. Because hope can start with something small — a meal, a visit, a conversation, a reminder that brighter days are still possible.

To all mothers around the world: we see you, we thank you, and we honour you today ❤️
