Before we move on to our Member Spotlight with CAD RANGER (retired), we want to put out an urgent reminder that WPA can only exist to help our retired warriors with funding supplied by you so thank you to all those that have given support.

This charity has been able to help so many retired working dogs & their families but coming into Christmas, your charity has never been needed more!

We've been inundated with support requests so if you are able to donate, we would be eternally grateful.

Head over to the website to help/ donate to our 4 legged warriors who all served with distinction.

Member Spotlight- CAD RANGER (retired)

Dates of Service: 2018-2021

Service History

RANGER came to K9 Solutions Australia at around the 6 month point, where he was developed for SOCOM till he was approximately 15 months of age.

After some further development from within the unit, RANGER was soon ready for course.

If ever there was a dog born to do this work, it was RANGER who took to a life in service straight away.

CAD RANGER served as an effective member of his SOCOM Unit and deployed throughout Southeast Asia.

Unfortunately, CAD Ranger had to retire prematurely for his age due to a limb injury.

He now lives the dream, hanging out with his former handler on a huge property & occasionally gets to harass the livestock.

VALE Combat Assault Dog KENI (retired). He's done so much in his 15 years but his last professional job was as an ambassador for WPA. We will be eternally grateful for your 4 legged support, in & out of service. Our thoughts are with Ryan at this emotional time.

🙏 Do not mourn the passing but celebrate the life 🙏

Combat Assault Dog KENI (retired), at the grand age of 15, passed from this life surrounded by Ryan, former handlers & DLOs (trainers), yesterday.

While it was an emotional time, it was great to hear the lads tell stories of KENI's life
in-service.....& more than a few in post-service.
He could be goofy at times but watching him fly through the air at speed, to catch a decoy was something to behold.

Our thoughts are with Ryan at this time as he adjusts to life without his best mate.

Co-founder Ryan met with Tracey Roberts MP, Federal Member for Pearce, to discuss the urgent need for increased government support for retired military working dogs.
We also raised our ongoing concerns regarding the challenges WPA have had getting a Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status and the lack of formal recognition through the ATO. We’re grateful for Tracey’s advocacy and her commitment to raising these matters with the Hon Matt Keogh MP, Minister for Veterans’ Affairs, and the Hon Richard Marles MP, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence.
We look forward to continuing the conversation and working together to ensure our nation’s retired service dogs are properly supported and recognised.
