Chris Kringle’s Top 5 New Films/Specials of 2025 🎄
A Very Jonas Christmas Movie
Taking a leaf out of I’ll Be Home for Christmas, the very loveable Jonas Brothers trapped far away from home, racing against the clock to get home for a Christmas and to rediscover their brotherly bon. Capers matched with some signature Jonas style music make for an extremely fun, tongue in cheek ride. A great family one with some catchy music
My Secret Santa
In what is essentially a festive Mrs Doubtfire, single mum Taylor is seeking money to send her daughter to a snowboarding academy takes a job as the resort’s Santa Claus, adopting an elaborate disguise. The resort’s general manager in waiting starts to develop feelings for Taylor and a liking for Santa. Shenanigans ensue! This is great family fun. Very likeable characters and a wonderful story and message about love at Christmas. Highly recommend this one!
Man vs Baby
After Man vs Bee several years back (where the episodes were far too short), Rowan Atkinson returns in a Mr Bean inspired festive treat. When he is accidentally charged with a baby after a school nativity, housesitter Trevor ends up having to look after it over Christmas in a high end London penthouse. What could possibly go wrong? Atkinson’s pitch perfect physical comedy and expression make this an absolute joy to watch. It’s predictable but laugh out loud funny and the addition of the Christmas setting makes it even better. Would it have been better as a longer series? Yes. Will I be watching it again? Yes. A sheer festive delight!
Tinsel Town
In this super fun one, a flailing Hollywood star takes up a role in a festive pantomime in England. What follows is a delightful combo of Christmas and the UK institution that is panto. Likeable characters and a whole load of festive fun. Kiefer Sutherland does a wonderful job in this one which is a great watch!
Matt Rife Unwrapped
A disclaimer from the outset, Matt Rife’s humour is very adult and won’t be for everyone due to its very non PC nature. But that is unashamedly him. The Ohio based comedian films this unique special in Arizona where he relies on audience stories and experiences from their own Christmas’ in this comedy meets talk show. The way he works a crowd is effortless and his razor sharp improv is very good. This is a festive special for those who want a bit of adult humour for the holidays. It’s crude but very funny. Don’t come into this one if you’re easily offended however
