The late John Cutmore – known to most people as ‘Cutty’ – was a founding member of the Obi Obi Rural Fire Brigade in 1969 and, for over 40 years, he generously volunteered his skills, knowledge and time to the brigade and the Obi Obi community. Cutty’s exemplary commitment and legacy as a Rural Fire Service volunteer were formally recognised through the recent posthumous award of Honorary Life Membership and the Deputy Chief Officer’s Certificate of Appreciation. Last week, a ceremony was held at the Obi Obi Rural Fire Station in honour of Cutty to present the award to his family. Cutty’s daughters, Beverley Bradford and Shelley Dauch, accepted the award; followed by speeches from former and current brigade members paying tribute to a community stalwart who had an enduring impact on our brigade.
