A fantastic way to end our workshops for this financial year with a celebration of the Women in Agriculture.
A huge thanks to Sara Bucher, Tanya Alison and the team from Maleny Cheese Factory for a great experience.
Thank you Sara for a very informative talk on your fascinating adventures in the Dairy and Cheese industries and treating us to the very tasty 'tastings tour' https://malenycheese.com.au/tasting-tours/.
With thanks to Paul Mackay for organising the event, Seqwater and Sunshine Coast Council for their continued support and to our landholders who consistently support our events,.

Huge thanks to Seqwater for partnering with us in this program. Fantastic win win for water quality and the environment 🌿

Source water with less dirt, germs and other pollutants in it means our treatment plants can do their job more efficiently with less costs involved.

And that’s what our Source Protection Program is all about. 🌳

We work with 11 partners to help look after the rivers, creeks, and land surrounding our dams and rivers to keep water at the source in the best possible shape before it reaches our treatment plants.

But here's the bonus.

A lot of the work that protects our waterways does so by helping protect the ecosystems around them, including helping threatened and endangered species.

We're talking:
🐟 Fish homes built underwater for the endangered Mary River cod
🌱 Aquatic plant beds re-established for lungfish
🌳 Trees planted specifically to support koalas and glossy black cockatoos
🐢 Nesting sites protected for the Mary River turtle and white-throated snapping turtle

Healthy ecosystems help keep our waterways in better shape for the long term. One program. Two wins.

📷 Thank you to Mary River Catchment Coordinating Committee for the photos and all our partners for their hard work with this program👏

Great initiative and article ABC Sunshine Coast Seqwater

Researchers hope they have found a way for a fascinating living fossil to once again breed in the Brisbane River, but hunger is making it harder.

We had the pleasure of focusing on a different part of the Mary River catchment last month running a collaborative workshop with Mary River Catchment Coordinating Committee at Tete Park near Crystal Waters focusing on the w**d vines of the Upper Mary Valley.
With two informative and entertaining presenters Matt Bateman and LBCCG’s own Ivan Cafarella, the workshop focused on w**d control techniques and the spread and impact of Cats Claw, Madeira Vine and Dutchman’s pipe.
The discussion was lively with great input from a very engaged audience.
With thanks to Rhiannon Kempnich from Sunshine Coast Council for coming along to provide us with flyers and books on pest species, to Maleny Bakery Cafe for providing Morning tea and Seqwater for their continued support of the workshop program.

Seqwater is trialling Emotional Support Platypuses at designated dams to improve staff wellbeing.

Please do not pat the platypuses - they are on duty.
