World Cancer Day | Trish’s Story
Trish has spent most of her working life helping people. 20 years in hospitals, 8 of which was in oncology. For the last four years she has worked with Carexcell.
Two years ago cancer came knocking on her own door.
She found a lump after a run.
Got it checked.
And everything moved fast.
Chemo. Immunotherapy. Surgery. More treatment.
In the middle of it, Trish made a hard choice. She stepped back from work, not because she didn’t care, but because she cared deeply about her clients and wanted them supported properly.
Today, Trish is back doing what she loves. Sitting with older people. Playing brain games. Helping them into the pool. Sharing laughs. Keeping minds and bodies moving.
“I don’t call it a job,” she says. “We enjoy each other’s company.”
Her message this World Cancer Day is simple and powerful:
If something doesn’t feel right, don’t ignore it. Get it checked. Even if it’s between screenings. The earlier you act, the better the outcome. We all know what to do, just do it.
We’re proud to have Trish as part of the Carexcell team. Her story is a reminder that care isn’t just what we do. It’s who we are.
