We’re excited to introduce Long Service Legends - a new way we’re recognising and celebrating the incredible people who make a difference every day across Harbour at Home.
First up, we’re shining a light on Debbie, our Care Quality, Training & Support Manager!
Debbie has been working in aged care since 2003, bringing with her a wealth of experience across nursing, leadership, and training.
From starting as a trainee to managing a nursing home, her career has always been driven by one thing—helping people.
Today, Debbie plays a hands-on role supporting both staff and clients. Whether it’s training new team members, checking in with support workers, or making sure care is delivered the right way for each individual, she’s always tthere to help.
“I make time for everyone. I want to know everything that's going on, because that’s how we support people properly.”
Debbie is passionate about helping staff grow. She pairs new team members with the right people, supports them in the field, and is a huge part in building confidence and capability within the team.
One moment she’s especially proud of is supporting a new worker who felt overwhelmed when starting out. Debbie worked closely alongside her for three months until she found her feet.
“Now she’s one of our most popular workers. She even brought her daughter on to work at Harbour!”
She’s also proud of the culture at Harbour at Home. “We’ve built an environment where people aren’t afraid to ask for help. We support each other—and when our staff feel supported, our clients do too.”
Her approach is simple: stay flexible, stay hands-on, and do whatever it takes to support the team. “Every day is different—you just have to adapt.”
And if something needs doing? Debbie’s already onto it. “I cleaned the whole office the other week—it didn’t worry me!”
Debbie, thank you for everything you bring to Harbour At Home. Your leadership, care, and commitment make a real difference.
