Team Maddie’s Vision is stepping up for the Stryde4 Melbourne Corporate Challenge this Thursday 15 October! 💜

Our wonderful team of staff, Board members, partners and supporters are coming together to take on the 8km challenge to raise vital funds for Maddie Riewoldt's Vision.

Bone Marrow Failure Syndromes are rare, complex and life-threatening conditions that can turn a family’s world upside down. At Maddie’s Vision, we are working to change that by advancing life-saving research whilst providing specialist support and education to patients and families across Australia.

We’d love for you to get behind Team Maddie’s Vision as we take on the STRYDE4 Challenge. And while the 8km walk might sound straightforward, along the way our team will tackle 15 immersive activation zones, including games, a silent disco and ice baths! 🥶

📣 Abstract submissions are now open for the 5th National Symposium on Bone Marrow Failure Syndromes!

The Symposium Steering Committee warmly invites abstracts on all aspects of basic, translational and clinical research relating to Bone Marrow Failure Syndromes, including disease mechanisms, diagnosis, treatment, supportive care and patient and family outcomes. A limited number of abstracts will be selected for a short oral presentation at the Symposium, providing an opportunity to share your research with clinicians, researchers and experts from across the Bone Marrow Failure Syndrome scientific community.

Submissions close at 5.00pm AEDT on Friday 5 February 2027. Successful presenters must be available to attend and present in person. Please note, travel funding is not available.

🚀 Registrations are now open for the fourth and final session in our 2026 CRE Expert Webinar Series, featuring Dr Patrick Revy, co-head of the Genome Dynamics in Human Diseases laboratory at the Imagine Institute in Paris, France.

Dr Revy will explore somatic genetic rescue (SGR) and how acquired somatic mutations can counteract disease-causing germline mutations. Drawing on examples identified through his laboratory, he will discuss how SGR can influence clonal expansion and disease evolution, and its implications for the diagnosis and clinical manifestations of inherited haematopoietic disorders.

🌍💜 Today is World Marrow Donor Day - WMDD
For people living with Bone Marrow Failure Syndromes, a stem cell transplant can offer their only hope of a cure. If a family member isn’t a match, they may need to rely on the donor registry, often looking overseas because there simply aren’t enough registered donors here in Australia.

Every patient deserves an equal chance of finding a match. In Australia, 40,000 new stem cell donors are needed every year to help meet the needs of patients searching for a donor.

A larger, more diverse registry gives more patients hope of finding the person who could save their life.

If you’re aged 18–35, you can register to become a stem cell donor today via Stem Cell Donors Australia.

In the past 12 months alone, the number of people accessing our services has increased by 30%. Whilst we are reaching more patients and families than ever before, we know there are still hundreds across the country navigating these rare, complex and life-threatening conditions alone.

On Friday 30 October, our inaugural Maddie’s Vision Golf Day will take place at the stunning Peninsula Kingswood Country Golf Club North Course.

Thanks to our wonderful partners Coopers brewery, the Coopers Party Hole will be serving up refreshing Coopers beers, a classic sausage sizzle and a fantastic atmosphere throughout the day.

We are so excited to have Australasian PGA Tour Champion Matt Griffin joining us for the inaugural Maddie’s Vision Golf Day on Friday 30 October at the beautiful Peninsula Kingswood Country Golf Club.

With 18 years of professional golf experience across Australia, Asia, Japan and Europe, Matt has seven professional tournament victories to his name and was crowned the Australasian Tour Order of Merit Champion in 2016.

On the day, players will have the chance to step up and Beat the Pro, putting their shot to the test against one of Australia’s most accomplished professional golfers – all while helping raise vital funds to support patients and families living with Bone Marrow Failure Syndromes.
