Corner Store Network Not-for-profit social enterprise coffee roastery, preservery & cafe based in Oakleigh.

The Corner Store Network is a Melbourne based social enterprise working towards increased food security and nutrition, transparent and ethical supply chains, real climate action, minimising food waste and building engaged local communities in Australia and Timor-Leste. We do this through a number of initiatives, addressing global challenges with local solutions:

We spend a lot of time here talking about coffee from Timor-Leste.
But Timor is obviously so much more than coffee.

Music, language, food, art, history, storytelling, memory, culture.

This November, some extraordinary Timorese voices are coming to the Melbourne Recital Centre. Timor-Leste - Ita Nia Lian, Ita Nia Istoria - Our Voices Our Stories spotlights the vibrant new wave of Timorese music led by Hamoris Lian Timor, a creative movement dedicated to nurturing young artists, preserving cultural memory, and amplifying Timor-Leste's stories on the world stage. Emerging from community-driven collaboration across Dili, Suai, and the diaspora, Hamoris Lian Timor empowers artists to record, perform and share their lived experiences with authenticity, pride, and artistic freedom.

Big news from the CSN fam...

Jake and Laura have welcomed beautiful little River Sky into the world, and we couldn’t be happier for them.

She's absolutely perfect.

Lucky for Jake and Laura, caffeine is basically on tap around here, which feels ideal for the newborn chapter. And knowing her parents, we’re guessing River will be on a surfboard, covered in sunshine and completely at home around good coffee and this beautiful community in absolutely no time.

Sending the biggest love to all three of them as they settle into life together.

The only real question now is…how early is too early to sneak a single origin into the bottle?

Starting this Saturday, we’ll have fresh sourdough from available at Corner Store Network.

Made slowly and with care, this is exactly the kind of bread we love sharing, made by people who care about community as much as we do.

There’s something about a really good loaf of bread:
the crackle of the crust, the soft centre, a generous amount of butter (obviously), and if you’re anything like us… a spoonful of CSN preserves on top.

We’re super happy to be stocking bread from our new friends at Elwood Sourdough. Thoughtful bakers making genuinely delicious sourdough with the kind of care we always appreciate.

Come early, grab a loaf, stay for a coffee. Available every Saturday morning until sold out.

If you've spent time in Timor-Leste, chances are you know the story of Lafaek Diak.

According to the story of Lafaek Diak (The Good Crocodile), a young boy saved a small, stranded crocodile. To repay the boy, the crocodile carried him on its back across the ocean.
When the crocodile grew old and frail, it died and transformed into the island of Timor-Leste. The ridges on its back became the country's mountain ranges, giving the island its distinct crocodile shape.

The story represents gratitude, mutual respect, kinship, and the deep, sacred connection the Timorese people have to their natural environment.

We've worked with our fave artist, Carla Scotto, to bring that spirit to a limited run of premium AS Colour tees, printed in tones inspired by Carla's recent redesign of our coffee labels.

They're designed to wear well, travel far and spark conversations, because stories travel further when people wear them.

We’ve learned a thing or two about moka pots over time ☕

From Jake’s own experience (and what we’ve heard from customers), the moka pot you choose really does make a difference, in flavour, consistency and overall stovetop coffee brewing.

That’s why he often leans towards Bialetti moka pots. Not because it’s the only option, but because it’s a brand known for quality, reliability and safe coffee brewing.

You can find different sizes available at our shop or you can look for one at an op shop, just make sure you’re choosing a well-made moka pot from a trusted brand (for good coffee… and avoiding any unexpected explosions 😅).

A better cup often starts with the right tools.

We're saying goodbye and thank you to Mayara, who has been our marketing and comms superstar for the past 12 months.

Joyful, bubbly and warm, Mayara fit so easily into our family, along with her partner Ihaad. She’s helped shape how we share our story and connect with our community, and we’re so grateful for everything she's brought to this space.

Change is never easy, and we are sad for this chapter to come to a close, but we're wishing Mayara all the best as she finishes up her studies, and we'll no doubt catch her out on the waves.
