Maylands Peninsula parkrun is a FREE weekly timed 5km event for walkers and runners of all abilities, which takes place every Saturday at 8am

Maylands Peninsula parkrun is FREE and open to people of all standards and ages, both as volunteers and as runners / walkers. We encourage people of every ability to take part, from those taking their first steps in running to Olympians, from juniors 4 years or older to those with decades of experience as well as walkers. All participants receive encouragement and enjoy being part of a community event open to all standards. Equally, our volunteer teams come from a huge variety of backgrounds and we encourage everybody to volunteer as often as they want.

We love it when kids run with a parent at our parkrun. So, on Saturday 31 October, we and many parkrun events across Australia are partnering with the Daniel Morcombe Foundation to host parkwalk for Daniel. Wear red to support child safety and the work of the Daniel Morcombe Foundation.

Well done to our runners today for getting out there in some rainy conditions at Maylands Peninsula! We had 15 PBs and 13 first-timers, also a great crew of volunteers helping which made for a smooth event for number #524. Here’s a snapshot of more stats from today ✌️

Congratulations to all 142 finishers on a glorious morning for parkrun!

Well done to Amy Kapernick on her 50th run, and to Maureen Viney (one of our two regular octogenarians!) on her 25th!

Many thanks to all of today’s volunteers, and to those regulars who wrote their names down for upcoming roles. Next week is looking good, but there are lots of empty boxes in the weeks thereafter. Here’s the link to the volunteer roster - please get in contact if you want to be a hi-vis hero! https://www.parkrun.com.au/maylandspeninsula/futureroster/

Thanks to all for not making me fill out any incident reports, and for returning all the finish tokens! (Gordon is a happy chappy, and knows he won’t be finding any tokens on his dashboard this Monday…😜).

And finally, good luck to those that are participating or volunteering at the Perth Running Festival tomorrow…go hard!

Did you leave this top behind this morning?

It’s in the parkrun kit bag, so will be turning up next week - same time same place!

(If you want it back earlier than that, message us and we’ll see what can be done).
