💕 INGLEWOOD UPMARKET UPDATE 💕
After seven wonderful years, we’re finishing up with the Inglewood Upmarket.
Back in 2018, two complete strangers in the neighbourhood decided to trial a simple idea. We had no expectations, just a hope that people might come along and enjoy a small community market, while simultaneously getting rid of our preloved clothes.
At the time, markets like this were still rare in Perth and quite different to the traditional car-boot-sale model. We wanted to advocate for recycling, reusing and repurposing preloved items and hoped others might see the value in that too. What grew from that early idea has truly taken on a life of its own.
The Inglewood Upmarket was always a passion project and, for most of that time, it ran on volunteer hours or heavily reduced pay because everything went straight back into running the markets. In recent years, we were fortunate to work with the City of Stirling (thank you!) to secure funding, which helped keep the event going and allowed it to grow into what it is today.
We’ve loved seeing how far things have come – from our tiny beginnings to now, where it feels like there’s a market in almost every second suburb. Knowing we played a small part in inspiring that is something we’re incredibly proud of.
To our community who showed up every season, thank you. To the local businesses who backed us, especially - thank you. And to our incredible vendors, musicians, face painters, fairies, assistants and everyone in between – we couldn’t have done this without you. ✨
A special mention goes to our spin-off event, KIDS TAKEOVER Inglewood Upmarket (still going strong after 3 years!) which has become such a loved fixture. That one may not be finished just yet, so stay tuned. 🥰
