After the founding of Koala Clancy Foundation and continuation of the boneseed w**d removal project that's seen the removal of 4.8 million w**ds from koala habitat to date, it was time to think bigger.

At this stage, we'd recorded a drastic koala population decline in the You Yangs - almost 50% in ten years. The trees in the forest were dying. Removing w**ds wasn't going to be enough to save this population in the long term.

What if we continued removing w**ds from the You Yangs forest to buy some time, and started planting trees nearby that, in the long term, would grow into forests that could support the local koala population.

Spoiler alert... That's exactly what we did. We set an ambitious target to plant 300,000 trees by 2030 to create a future for the koalas in our region. And it's working!

We organised the first ever tree planting project tailored specifically to koalas and 2848 community volunteers have joined us since to plant 185,397 trees. We're seeing incredible results at our past projects and are on track to smash the 2030 deadline.

That's how a charismatic koala named Clancy inspired a revegetation revolution. But the story isn't over yet. We have a few years to go before the completion of this project. In that time we'll be working hard to raise funds, engage community volunteers, and most importantly - plant trees!

There's a lot you can do to help. Join one of our planting events in Victoria this winter or organise a corporate team building day for you and your colleagues.

If you're in a position to donate, consider doing so this EOFY. It's one of the most powerful times of year to support our work, as it's smack bang in the middle of our winter tree planting season!

Our first tree planting day of the season is in three weeks and it's already SOLD OUT!

Firstly - if you missed out, don't fret. We'll be running community planting days nearly every weekend in winter. Keep your eyes on our social media and website for updates on new events, we'll be publishing more soon. Book in quick to avoid missing out!

Secondly - we want to say a big THANK YOU to everyone who's booked in so far, signed up as members, or reached out to ask about future events... There have been a lot of you! Our team feels so energised for the upcoming tree planting season, and this sold out event has showed us that you feel the same! It fills us with confidence that once again, our community will come together to get tens of thousands of trees in the ground in the short, three month window that we have.

So, bring on the huge 2026 tree planting season. Together, let's create a better future for koalas, one tree at a time.

On Sunday 3 May, 2026, the world celebrated a decade of Wild Koala Day. Perfectly timed was our discovery at Koala Clancy Foundation that one of our tree planting projects on the Moorabool River has seen a significant increase in koala numbers and duration of stay.

Australian Rural and Regional News were one of many publications to share the news. You can find a collection of Koala Clancy Foundation's media appearances and support our work to plant 300,000 trees by 2030 at the link below.

Every year in June, July, and August, corporate teams from across Melbourne and Victoria join us to plant thousands of trees for wild koalas.

For many teams, this event is the highlight of their year. It's an opportunity to spend a day outdoors, chatting with your colleagues, and doing something meaningful to help nature. Plus, you get to visit our picturesque planting sites that are otherwise inaccessible to the public.

These events operate in the Geelong region on weekdays, typically between 9:30am and 2:30pm. We provide experienced guides, all required supplies/equipment, and full catering. All your teammates need to bring is a water bottle and their enthusiasm!

Our corporate calendar is filling quickly. Get in touch asap to avoid missing out.
