Officially opend to the public, Steve and I enjoyed a seat in the sensory garden this week.

Friends of Serendip Sanctuary will be looking a little different this year. Joy will be handing over the Group Leader role to Steve, as she prepares for an exciting lap around Australia.

As part of this transition, some projects and activities previously offered may no longer be available. Steve steps into the role with enthusiasm and is currently studying a Certificate III in Conservation and Ecosystem Management. We’re looking forward to seeing how the group continues to grow under his leadership.

📅 Weekly volunteering has moved to Tuesdays, 9:00am–12:30pm.

🌱 The nursery is already bursting with newly sprouted seedlings, with plenty of work ahead — growing plants for the upcoming planting season and preparing sites for planting.

Saturday 31 January Readathon at Serendip Sanctuary.

Bring a book, or borrow one from the borrow box.

Optional check-ins:
9:00 am – Meet and greet at the carpark/picnic area
3:00 pm – Gather together to share something about the book you’ve been reading (carpark/picnic area)

Bring a camp chair and find a beautiful spot to sit, or wander to one of the bird hides throughout the Sanctuary. Enjoy the sounds of nature while you read a few chapters.

Families are welcome — stroll through the Sanctuary and read a page or chapter at a time as you go.

Please note: the Sanctuary closes at 4:00 pm.

Remember to dress for the weather and bring water.

Thank you to our wonderful and amazing Friends of Serendip volunteers this year. We have done some amazing work, and i am so greatful to you all. Many native plants were propagated, planted and watered, and many weeds were weeded. We couldn’t do it without your help. I am so excited to see what we accomplish next year. So many ideas and opportunities.
