The Fire Danger Period for our area will be lifted at 1am Monday 13th April.

Please remember that outside the fire danger period, you still need a permit to burn issued by the City Of Greater Geelong and follow all conditions listed on said permit including notifications to Triple Zero Victoria and Lara CFA.

The Fire Danger Period has been amended for the following municipalities, and will now be lifted as of 1:00am Monday 13 April 2026:

Borough of Queenscliffe
City of Greater Geelong
Golden Plains Shire Council
Surf Coast Shire Council

🚨 Community Notification – Planned Burn 🚨

Tomorrow - Sunday 5th April, Forest Fire Management Victoria will be conducting an ecological burn Nth of Windmill Rd and between Edgars Rd/Live Bomb Range Rd. Burn is planned to commence at 10am. There will be a lot of smoke in the area.

We have just been advised that there is a stubble burn about to happen on the corner of Old Melbourne Road and Windemere Road (edit/correction It's actually McIntyres Rd), The farmer has a permit to burn during the fire danger period and he has equipment to manage the controlled burn. If you are nearby consider closing your homes windows and bring in any washing being dried outside if smoke is drifting nearby.

Director Natalie had a fantastic and humbling experience at the Lara CFA annual dinner, celebrating the remarkable achievements of our local CFA in keeping our community safe. It was great to see some humour shine through the serious summer fire season discussions, including the 'blistered helmet' award given to Captain Roger this year.
