Every work placement is an opportunity to build skills, confidence and experience. 💙

Recently, we welcomed Felicity from Tweed Valley Adventist College to Connect Northern Rivers for her Business Services work placement.

During her placement, Felicity gained hands-on experience in a busy office environment, working alongside our team and developing practical skills that will support her future career journey.

Thank you, Felicity, for your enthusiasm, willingness to learn and positive attitude throughout the week. It was a pleasure having you as part of the Connect team, and we wish you all the very best for the future.

Ever wondered what it's like to design, build and create using the latest technology? Come and experience the UQ Mobile Makerspace – a fully equipped, interactive workshop packed with hands-on technology and innovation.

From uncertainty to purpose 💙
When Kiarra Smith joined Connect's Get Back in the Game program, she wasn't sure what her future would look like. After facing challenges at school, limited opportunities in a remote community and barriers that made education and employment difficult, she was ready to try something different.

With determination, and support from her case manager, Kiarra completed two nationally recognised qualifications, gained her driver's licence, earned industry tickets, and discovered a passion for helping others. Today, she's studying a Certificate IV in Community Services and has secured casual employment supporting young people with disabilities and complex needs.

Kiarra's journey is a powerful reminder that there is no single pathway to success. With the right support, resilience and a willingness to keep moving forward, amazing things can happen.

Congratulations, Kiarra. We're incredibly proud of everything you've achieved and can't wait to see where your journey takes you next. 💙

From work placement to paid employment! ☕👏

When Sophie's Work Placement Coordinator received an email from the team at Espresso Botero, praising how well Sophie was doing during her placement, it was already clear she was making a great impression.

A visit to the café the following day confirmed it.

Without realising it, the coordinator was served by Sophie, who confidently took the order and provided such professional customer service that they assumed she was already an employee.

Not long after Sophie's placement finished, Christie got back in touch with some wonderful news... Espresso Botero had offered Sophie ongoing paid employment!

Congratulations, Sophie, on this fantastic achievement. Your hard work, confidence and positive attitude have opened the door to an exciting opportunity. A huge thank you to Christie and the team at Espresso Botero for supporting young people through work placement and helping create real employment pathways.
