Family Law Pathways Network Northern Rivers last Thursday held their annual conference day, "Breaking the Cycle: Addressing Violence and Creating Change" and we would like to sincerely thank everyone who attended and contributed to such a meaningful and impactful day.

A huge thank you to our guest speakers, Dr Vince Hurley, who delivered a powerful presentation on the history and complexities of Domestic and Family Violence, along with Lizette from Men and Family Centre and Luke from Centre of Change, who provided valuable insight into Men’s Behaviour Change Programs and the important role they play in addressing violence and supporting long-term change.

Thank you also to Michael from Small Steps 4 Hannah foundation, who courageously shared Hannah’s story and the ongoing work being done to raise awareness and create change.

We then concluded the day with an insightful expert panel discussion featuring Michael, Lizette, Luke, Superintendent Roptell and colleagues from Richmond Police District, along with Sarah from Legal Aid NSW Domestic Violence Unit. The discussion provided valuable perspectives on the complexities, warning signs, and ongoing challenges surrounding Domestic and Family Violence, as well as the importance of collaboration across services and agencies.

The day created an opportunity for connection, collaboration, networking and learning, and it was encouraging to see so many passionate professionals and community members come together with a shared commitment to creating change.

Thank you again to everyone who attended, contributed, and supported the event. Conversations like these are vital in continuing to raise awareness, strengthening responses, and working towards breaking the cycle of violence.
