Flying a drone near a bushfire or emergency operation prevents firefighting and rescue operations. 🛩️

Firefighting aircraft require clear airspace to carry out the critical job of controlling fires and saving lives.

If you fly your drone near emergency operations, you will force first responders to land, increasing risks to the safety of others.

Australian Red Cross, Minnie Water CRT & Wooli CRT are holding a 2way Raio Testing Day on Monday 21st Sept at 10.30am at the Minnie Water Hall.

If you are interested in joining in we are looking for residents from the following places:

What an informative and productive meeting we had this morning at the Dundurrabin Community Centre!
It was fantastic to see so many enthusiastic residents from different communities across the Blicks area coming together with a shared commitment to emergency preparedness and supporting their communities.

We’ve been working alongside the Blicks communities for many years, and today it felt like all that hard work really came together. It was wonderful to see three new Community-Led Resilience Teams (CRTs) ©️emerging from today’s workshop.

The Australian Red Cross CRT Model©️has been helping communities build stronger connections, preparedness and resilience over the past nine years since the model was created.

Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed so openly. I’m so glad you left feeling inspired and motivated to keep your communities at the forefront of emergency preparedness and resilience planning.

Together, we can make a difference.

Thank you to all the Iluka community & the Iluka CRT ©️members who attended yesterday’s Red Cross bushfire scenario workshop.
It was fantastic to see everyone engaging with the big map, exploring what preparedness can look like, and understanding how being prepared can make a real difference to recovery.

The scenario encouraged everyone to think, brainstorm and share ideas about what the community would need before, during and after the next emergency. Most importantly, it highlighted how working together can empower the community with the knowledge, connections and resources they need to be better prepared.

A big thank you to Iluka RFS for supporting the event, along with the Reconstruction Authority. Your involvement helped make the scenario practical, engaging and meaningful for everyone who attended.

The workshop certainly got people thinking about what they would need to do differently in the next emergency.

We’re looking forward to our next workshop and continuing to build a stronger, more prepared and resilient Iluka community. ❤️‍🔥
