Dear NT Lived Experience community,

What matters to you?

Here is an opportunity to share what you think through a survey by the ABC National Broadcaster.

So far Human Rights related issues seem to be on people’s minds (Disability services, First Nations rights and Cost of Living).

Ktown, this great little service is for problems big and small. Like Ktown itself, it has the ability to create relationships, connections and opportunities to strengthen wellbeing across cultures and diverse life experiences. They can provide supports in-house as well as facilitate a range of referral pathways for external support. Please do check it out if you - or even someone you know - is not travelling so well.

DEAR KATHERINE COMMUNITY

Our community has a reputation as being resilient and strong and those of us that call this town home.....love our community and want the best for all of us living here.

This year has given us many reasons to feel UNSAFE, UNSETTLED, DISTRESSED and generally concerned. The floods, escalation in youth crime, impacts from a lack of available housing, road safety to mention a few.

Our team as supported by NT PHN, have implemented a safe space that meets the local needs of all of our community. We employ mental health clinicians and well-being workers for support. We are here to help you navigate the referral pathways for supporting the range of reasons that may be causing you worry.

We are here to listen to EVERYONE.

Everyone that comes through the door for support is valued and cared for in a way that they will best feel safe. This is the Jawoyn way.....Sharing Country and Caring for Country. This means caring and sharing with anyone living on or visiting Jawoyn country.

We listen and offer support with what you want and need.

Please get in touch on 08 7936 8611 or visit the centre. You don't have to manage these feelings alone or feel judged for your worries and fears.
And for those who would prefer phone support, there also is the national Medicare Mental Health phone service which offers mental health advice, support and guidance on 1800 595 212.

🏥 Help Shape the Future of Mental Health Care in the Top End

Have you, or someone close to you, ever stayed in the mental health inpatient unit at Royal Darwin Hospital?

What helped?

What didn't?

What needs to change?

Lived Experience NT has been asked by NT Health to facilitate a series of Consumer and Carer Forums to help shape the Model of Care for the new Mental Health Inpatient Unit currently being built at Royal Darwin Hospital.

This is an opportunity to make sure the voices of people with lived experience, families, carers and kin directly influence how care is delivered in the future.

We want to hear about:
💜 What made you feel safe
💜 What helped your recovery
💜 What you wish staff understood
💜 What needs to change
💜 What an excellent inpatient service should look like

📢 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Men's Mental Health First Aid Training – Free Opportunity in Katherine (Mon 29th & Tue 30th of June) – Registrations close today!

Are you an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander man interested in building your skills to support the mental health and wellbeing of your family, friends and community?

Charles Darwin University, with funding support from the Northern Territory PHN, is offering a FREE Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Men's Mental Health First Aid Course facilitated by Anthony Ah Kit.

This nationally recognised course teaches participants how to provide initial support to an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person who may be experiencing a mental health problem or mental health crisis.

📅 Dates: Monday 29 June & Tuesday 30 June 2026
🕘 Time: 9:00am – 4:00pm each day
📍 Venue: TBA (Face-to-Face)
💲 Cost: Free
👨🏾 Who: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Men only

Participants will learn how to:
✅ Recognise signs of mental health problems
✅ Have supportive conversations about mental health and wellbeing
✅ Respond in crisis situations
✅ Reduce stigma and support recovery
✅ Use practical Mental Health First Aid skills in culturally safe ways

This really is a great program and a valuable opportunity for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men.

Training that is culturally specific, delivered by an experienced Aboriginal facilitator, and offered free of charge is not something that comes around every day. The skills gained can make a real difference in supporting the wellbeing of family, friends and community members.
