In July of this year we had a poetry slam at Katherine Regional Arts and three Katherine poets made it through to the NT finals.
One of the poets was Mahalia Crawhshaw. Last night Mahalia gave a terrific performance of her poetry at the Sydney Opera House, alongside other state finalists.
Well done Mahalia - you did us proud.
The overall winner was Bivor, a fellow Territorian - from Mparntwe/Alice. Congratulations Bivor.

A range of traditional and modern techniques will be shared and experienced hands-on, as you produce a leather product to keep for years to come.

Two Katherine artists John Wick and Takota Taylor were commissioned by the Office of Disability to produce an artistic work to be exhibited at the Disability Inclusion Awards. KRA facilitated the project and a beautiful painting depicting a barramundi, a watermelon, and an amphibious vehicle on a road train was created at KRA. Last Friday we - artists, family members, Support workers travelled to Darwin for the Awards. Congratulations John and Takota.

Last night we celebrated the generous donation of a piano from ABC Australia to coincide with the screening of the TV series - 'The Piano'. Congratulations to everyone who performed - Per Forsberg, Kate Oliver, Tracy Morris, Ariel Den Harder, Abigail Reece, Nika Forsberg, Josh Woods, and the KRA Community Choir lead by Ashleigh Richardson.
A fab night with over 70 in attendance.

K'Town you really turned out for our first ever 'Katherine Big Shorts Film Festival' and we can’t thank you enough!
Over 560 attendees and 32 films
Thank you to everyone who came down for a sausage, some popcorn and to see a whole lotta films made by Katherine (and NT) locals! We are so grateful to live in such an amazing town with so many talented filmmakers!
