Congratulations to those who have put their hearts and souls on the line to protect their precious water.
HISTORIC! The High Court has ruled in favour of Mpwerempwer Native Title Holders, finding that one of the largest groundwater licences in Australia was granted unlawfully. The proposed groundwater-guzzling project now has no water licence and still has no environmental approvals. This six year old controversial project is in shambles but the Minister could re-issue the trillion-litre water licence. Call and email Minister Burgoyne now and tell him not to reissue this licence which will destroy nature, is against the wishes of Native Title Holders and is giving away billions of litres of water for free with little benefit in return.

Let him know it doesn’t add up:
* No royalties will be paid;
* No guaranteed local jobs, it will likely rely on a fly in fly out workforce;
* Seventy per cent of produce will be exported overseas;
* An independent review found that the economic benefits, including jobs, is overstated by the company, Fortune Agribusiness;
* It will risk damaging and destroying a 60 kilometres stretch of groundwater dependent ecosystems and lowering the groundwater table by 50 metres;
* It is opposed by traditional owners and local community members;
* It is one of Australia's largest groundwater licences but Fortune Agribusiness is a company that has no other projects and has no experience in the Northern Territory.
