Breast Cancer Awareness Month! 🩷🎀

This morning Kalano held a Pink Ribbon Bake Sale in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, raising awareness and funds for an important cause with all proceeds going to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

A big thank you to our amazing Corporate Services ladies for all their hard work organising, baking and making this morning possible! A quick shout-out to Hannah, Melissa, Abbey, Mikaylah, Emily, Natalie, Shona and Donna!

Thank you also to all our staff who came along, donated, purchased some goodies or got involved. To all staff who entered our raffle, the lucky winner will be announced later today. Good luck!

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This is an important time to raise awareness, support those affected by breast cancer and encourage conversations about breast health and early detection.

Breast cancer affects thousands of Australian families every year, with approximately 56 Australians diagnosed every day and 9 people losing their lives to breast cancer daily.

You can show your support by learning about breast cancer, encouraging your loved ones to be breast aware, participating in fundraising events or donating towards breast cancer research.

To learn more or make a donation, visit the National Breast Cancer Foundation: https://nbcf.org.au/

We are so proud to share that over the weekend, Kalano Community Association took home Blak Community Controlled Organisation of the Year at the 2026 NTIBN Blak Business Awards in Darwin!

This is an incredible achievement for our organisation and our communities!

It's been a big year for Kalano with a particularly rough start to the year with the Katherine floods, so this award is a massive reflection of the hard work, dedication and commitment that goes into everything we do at Kalano.

A huge thank you to our members, Council, management and all our amazing staff. This is a reflection of us all here at Kalano!

Congratulations to all the other winners, finalists and nominees that were with us on the night!

Lastly a big thank you to Northern Territory Indigenous Business Network (NTIBN) for the fantastic evening and for recognising the achievements of Aboriginal businesses and community-controlled organisations across the Territory. Well done to your whole team!

Another proud moment for Kalano, and another trophy for the cabinet! 💜🏆
