Katherine Town Council

The Air Force Band will take to the stage at Lindsay Street Complex on Friday 28 August as part of Katherine's Freedom of Entry.

Gates open from 6pm, with the concert commencing at 6.30pm.

Entry is free. Bring a picnic blanket and enjoy an evening of live music in Katherine. All ages are welcome - this will be a fun, safe, alcohol-free event for everyone!

Yesterday’s Community Engagement Meeting (CEM) at Rockhole went well! We’d like to thank everyone who came along and took the time to be part of the meeting.

We encourage all Kalano members and residents to attend their community meetings whenever possible. CEMs are an important opportunity to stay informed, hear updates from Kalano, receive important notices and most importantly have your say on matters that affect your community.

CEMs are held for each of our communities every two months, if your not sure you are a registered member give our office a call!

We look forward to seeing more of our members and residents at the next CEM! 💙

Community Notice – Office Closures (Miali Brumby Community)

Kalano Community Association Inc. wishes to advise the community that our offices and program areas located in Miali Brumby Community will be closed from 12:00 pm today (Thursday 6 August 2026) to allow cultural Sorry Business to take place.

These offices and services will reopen and resume normal operations from 8:00 am on Friday 7 August 2026.

During this time, community members are respectfully asked to limit non-essential travel into the Miali Brumby and Rockhole communities, in accordance with the advice of our Cultural Advisor.

Please note that Kalano's Flexible Aged Care Facility will continue to operate as normal.

On behalf of Kalano's Management Team, Council and staff, we extend our deepest condolences to the families, extended families, and friends of those we have lost. Our thoughts are with everyone affected during this difficult time.

We thank the community for your understanding and respect during this time.

Safe4Kids - Empowering Our Communities 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

Last week, Kalano Connected Beginnings welcomed Safe4Kids into our communities to deliver engaging and age-appropriate child safety education to children, families and community members.

Throughout the workshops, children learned about body safety, recognising safe and unsafe situations, identifying trusted adults, and understanding that they have the right to feel safe. One of the highlights of the sessions was showing children just how easy it is to ask for help. The children were guided through calling Kids Helpline, demonstrating that support is only a phone call away and helping to remove any fear or uncertainty about reaching out if they ever need help.

The workshops also provided practical information for parents, carers and community members on how to have open conversations with children, recognise signs that a child may need support, and create safe environments where children feel heard and protected.

The enthusiasm and participation from everyone involved was outstanding. By working together with Safe4Kids, Kalano Connected Beginnings continues to strengthen our commitment to ensuring every child grows up feeling safe, supported and empowered to speak up when something doesn't feel right.

We would like to sincerely thank Safe4Kids, our community members, stakeholders and families for making the workshops such a valuable and successful experience.
