International Women’s Day is a global moment to recognise the achievements, leadership and influence of women in shaping our communities, economies and futures.
First recognised by the United Nations in 1975 and now marked around the world each year on 8 March, International Women’s Day celebrates the progress made toward gender equality while continuing to drive momentum for fair and inclusive systems for women and girls.
This year’s UN Women Australia theme, “Balance the Scales,” highlights the importance of creating fair, accessible systems so every woman and girl can be safe, heard and able to shape her own future.
Here in Queensland, the conversation continues through Queensland Women’s Week, with the 2026 theme “Shaping tomorrow together,” recognising the importance of women’s economic security and the role communities play in advancing equality, wellbeing and opportunity.
At Packed With Care, we see the everyday realities behind these conversations, women balancing work, caregiving, health, family and community roles while continuing to contribute enormously to their families and communities.
Today we celebrate women, their resilience, leadership and influence, and the collective role we all play in building stronger, more connected communities.
